As an avatar creator, I can confirm that I find it relatively relaxing even if sometimes I want to blow up my computer because one easy thing just doesn't work properly. But I'm the kind of person who has the idea of an OC every 2 days and sometimes I want to make them for VRCHAT. It allows me to have avatars for how I want to be represented as right now while still being "myself" if you get what I mean. I make my avatars from scratch and I originally planned it as a hobby but the joy I get from making 3D models made me realize I can actually do it as a job. Once I manage to make my avatars better I plan to maybe take commission and all. Even if it all seemed very scary to get into in the first place I can't imagine where I would be right now without it.

As someone who is learning to create custom vrchat avatars, I can say that it is a massive project and takes a ton of time. It took me around 2 months of work to finish my first avatar. This is a lot to do with the fact that I have college and other things that take a lot of time but I also have a huge background in 3d modeling so I didn't have to learn the basics. I also think a portion of this is due to the fact that the recourses out there for avatar creation kinda suck. Not to discredit the people out there who have made tutorials they are really good and will work. These tutorials usually have small things that I personally don't want my avatars to have (topology, style, workflow, poly count, things like that. A lot of them a really long too) so I don't really like them. If you want to make an avatar that isn't 100% custom then just get a free base model and modify it or you can use one of those avatar creators. These two options are usually just as good as custom making your own you just don't get small things you might want. And if you want all that customizability without having to dump 100's of hours into blender just commission someone.

I myself am an avatar rextexturist, and work with unity and blender. I’ve bought a whole host of avatars and got to see how each artist does things, and got to build upon their work to bring my characters to life. There are so many amazing and talented creators in the VR world. Please give them your support, trust me it’s worth it. If like you have a friend who has to use public avatars, you will notice a lot of avatars that are ripped from the source are very often broken, or have assets removed entirely. Because a lot of rippers have no idea what they are doing. If you buy from the source it will work and you will have the original assets and you can even add stuff. Support artists, but their work and try no to work stolen work if you can. I am especially saying this as a furry myself, a lot of our characters are personal and mean a lot to us so having our textures ripped and used or even changed really sucks. So please don’t support that, it’s not cool. We work hard on what we make it’s not fair to have it stolen because it’s not yours to take!

Awesome video! Love your content, it's awesome to hear different people's opinions about vrchat topics. I make avatars for myself personally, but I consider it more like frankensteining avatars lol. It can be fun and relaxing for sure, especially when you come up with a specific way you want things to turn out and you know how to do it. I don't really have the most positive view on selling avatars, since sadly a lot of people who pay for avatars get underwhelming results or get something that they could've done themselves for free or someone else could've done for free. Sadly I've met people who sell avatars that were ripped from other people and sell them to people who have no clue what some people do to get those avatars sold. Booth is definitely one place that has been reliable so far which I've bought a few models from creators on there, but I'm not sure about other places. If people can learn to do the basics with Blender and Unity, they will be set for uploading their own personal avatars. The thing is that most people either don't have a PC to do the work or don't have a PC capable for doing the work, so it's understandable why they go for the buying route. I would highly recommend people going to avatar creators that have the best reputation when it comes to buying avatars, don't go to just anyone. Or see if someone will be willing to do it for free and is known to get the job done in the time you may want it done. Personally for myself I don't do commissions nor do I make avatars for anyone, I just don't have the time or energy to do that type of work. I'm willing to help people, with the best of my ability, to learn how to use Blender and Unity to do their own avatar projects and guide them to specific KZbin tutorials that will help a lot in the long run. Again great video Twice! Maybe I'll bump into you in Vrchat some day out of random. Can't wait to see future content from you

Don't know if this would be interesting but Ive seen a few of your videos and from what I'm seeing you make videos on different aspects of VRC, so I was wondering have you ever heard of Avatar PVP? and no I'm not talking about picking up a weapons in a world, or when people do RP Death where they have models with weapons but they pretend to be shot, I'm talking about where the model its self has a weapon on it that shoots a particle, that only works in certain worlds which triggers the world to either make you take damage or, die and respawn. If not I would suggest looking into it. As a member of this community myself I think it would be interesting to see an outsiders perspective on this as this is a pretty niche thing on VRC that from what I'm seeing a-lot of people aren't aware of.

That's the first time I hear about such a thing, at first I thought you were talking about crashers and their gun but that doesn't seem the case. Do you mind telling me a bit more about it?
@Z3roEXE2 жыл бұрын
@@oppaidah Sure well, no we are not crashers for starters we all despise crashers and none of us tolerate such things. But heres gist pf things, avatar PVP is essentially a system made by a VRC user named Gofluffyourself who managed to basically put a system in worlds that enables the ability to make certain particle layers to trigger different effects in specialised worlds eg, Burn effects, stuns, shields ,healing, and of course damage which basically what is does is, you have health and after you take enough damage the world will respawn you. There are many different kinds of PVP groups there are, Warhammer 40k groups (you might of seen these guys randomly in the pug including myself), Halo PVP groups, Star Wars PVP groups, COD PVP groups, Combine PVP groups, Gears of War PVP groups and like a trillion other groups, so basically what I'm saying is there is a PVP group for most games with some form of weapons in them. We also do free for alls where you might see 50 people in world doing PVP where a space marine might being fighting some clone trooper and some dragon at the same time while some giant robot in the background is being hit with a targeted orbital strike. So yeah to end what I'm saying TLDR: No we hate crashers, and we have many different sorts of groups and its a very cool experience. If you wanna ever some PVP let me know I could let you spectate an event if you want.

Honestly I agree do your homework if your going too commission a custom avi as you will get scammers, I made that mistake I spent a hefty price on my first ever custom and finding out over a year later from another creator who is updating my avi for me that my avi wasn’t proper custom but ripped and done very poor and lately that it wasn’t worth what I payed for. Luckily they are actually redoing my avi from the ground up and improving it for only 29 dollars cause they had been looking for a chance to show off and out do the original creator as apparently the person k went too had a really bad rep which I had no clue about at the time. So yes do homework and don’t just accept the first person you see. It’s literally the same advice I give for tattoos. Do your homework on artists and don’t just pick the first thing that comes to mind as you could end up regretting it later.

The problem I’ve noticed with the avatar creator discord servers actually comes from a friend of mine who when my onto a couple servers looking for some help to do with hair creating and she ended up getting pissed off at the people who replied asking her to pay them to help her. She called it gatekeeping and that people like them that try to charge people who are genuinely just asking for tips and such are a massive problem.
