I've bought youtuber merch (only small youtubers) before and worn it out in public. But it has to be things that look good in general and can stand on it's own, things no one else would recognise. Not just their name or something. Usually it's just been stuff I think looks good and would wear normally anyway, with the added benefit of the money going towards someone who can keep making content I enjoy.

I feel like it makes some sense for many creators to start with merch with their name on it? Like, maybe it depends on where your reach is at and the size of your audience, maybe it's better for smaller creators to do it so their name can be spread and recognized, and the love for the creator’s work can be shown pretty clearly. If one was a much bigger creator, they’ve probably compiled plenty of references and such in their career by now, so they wouldn’t have much need for their name on merch, it’s easy to recognize who it is by a quote or picture or what have you.
