Using the Minelab Equinox 800, in this video I show a few tips and tricks for those new to beach detecting - in fact even if you're an experienced beach hunter, maybe there's something useful for you too!
Beach detecting can be tricky, especially when there is a lot of black sand and other factors that can cause your detector to act erratically.
Signals can sound different to what you're expecting, and are often mistaken for rubbish. By the time you've watched this video, I'm hoping you will be able to tackle beach detecting with a new level of confidence!
Good luck, and happy hunting!

Love my Equinox 800. When on the beach I dig almost everything and you are right about the tones in and out of the sand. Nice video!! Thanks. I live in Florence SC, USA.

Thanks for your comment! The beach can be tricky, so like you, I dig all repeatable signals no matter what they sound like!

Beach detecting is my favorite, 2nd best is old home sites. I use the 6 inch coil quite often on my Equinox 800 as it's feather light and has excellent seperation of targets that are close together. Thanks for posting, wish you the best From across the pond in North Carolina USA🇺🇸

The 6” coil is fantastic, and I’ve found a lot of good targets that I wouldn’t have been able to get with the larger coil. Good luck with your hunting!

I’m glad you found the video helpful. Those sketchy signals are definitely worth digging, and the more of them you dig, the more you’ll learn to identify the “good” sketchy signals from the bad (if that makes sense). Happy Hunting!

I pretty much go with standard default settings for Beach 2. The trick is to slow your swing down a little bit, so the deeper targets can be heard.

Just bought an Equinox 800 mainly for sniping, I really like my X-terra 705 but it's not water proof, the 800 is amazing and can't wait to try it up north on the small gold we are finding up there. Is it worth getting a 6" coil for getting in around the rocks and crevices and is the 6" more sensitive. If I lived in Hobart I would like to spend more time at your beaches but I'm 1 1/2 hrs south. Thanks for taking the time to do your videos.
@coilsandcoinsdetecting

Thanks for your comments John, and for checking out the video. I’d definitely recommend a 6” coil for detecting around the rocks (beach), in bushy areas and old home sites, or anywhere there’s a really dense concentration of targets like at a dump site.

Hi mate just wanted to know if you ground balance while on beach, enjoy your vids 👍
@coilsandcoinsdetecting
@coilsandcoinsdetecting 2 жыл бұрын
No, I don’t ground balance on the beach. The Equinox Beach settings utilize automatic ground tracking, so ground balance is continually happening in the background without the need to manually adjust it.

Great video. Thanks! Did you turn on full metal every time to rule out iron? I only heard you say it for the first dig.
@coilsandcoinsdetecting
@coilsandcoinsdetecting Жыл бұрын
Thanks Neil. I tend to enable All Metal when I have a scratchy signal, just to give me more information about the target. To be honest, if I get a repeatable target at the beach I usually dig it, particularly if there aren’t many signals to be found.

Had the Minelab SD 2200 22yrs ago was a novice still am. Found no gold. And sold it. My question is the equinox 800 easy to use in comparison to the ,2200. Thanks 👍
@coilsandcoinsdetecting
@coilsandcoinsdetecting 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never used the 2200, but the Equinox is pretty much a turn on and go machine in most cases. The Equinox has a lot of flexibility too, if you want to fine tune it more, but I’ve found at the beach there’s not a lot of fine tuning needed when in Beach mode…

What is you definition of a repeatable target? Number can jump but a constant beep?
@coilsandcoinsdetecting
@coilsandcoinsdetecting 2 жыл бұрын
The definition of a repeatable target is when you get a tone (numbers don’t really matter) each time you swing your coil over it. You might find you need to approach the target from different angles sometimes, but if you’re getting a repeatable target from at least one angle, then I’d suggest digging it.

Mate always the 11" on the Nox 800 at the beach?
@coilsandcoinsdetecting
@coilsandcoinsdetecting Жыл бұрын
There are no right/wrong coil really, but I go with these basics: Dry/wet sand - 11” or 15” (good coverage) In the water - 11” or smaller (less drag) Around the rocks - 6” (Easier to get into gaps and close to rocks)
