Just a follow up to this video. I set my fe at 0 when I beach hunt. I run beach 2 with all metal mode ( the horseshoe ) on.
@philbinaso12433 жыл бұрын
What in my my humble opinion allows me to do, is hear targets that may be masked by setting up your discrimination. You will still hear the “ grunt of iron in all metal mode” however a good target will also be heard. My belief in this is that the nox target separation is so superior to any other detector I have used gives me the confidence to run beach and parks this way. Just my opinion but as you saw today that was flat out ridiculous the infestation of iron that was in Merrill’s plug on the beach.
@midwesttreasureandrelicrec79143 жыл бұрын
This is the same phenomenon I was trying to explain to Merrill about hunting in park one, park one is the mode that has the most discrimination built into it by Minelab. The field modes offer much less built in discrimination go deeper and unmask better. Field 1 iron, bias 1 or 0, sweep speed 4 on 800 2 on 600, manual gb sens 22-24. I definitely believe your theory on the beach is correct the salt tends to leech the iron out of any alloyed metal much more drastically also the way the iron breaks down in the salt and sand seems to leave a huge Halo which could easily mask a smaller good Target that is not leaching near as bad. Great gob getting the iron bias through to people
@philbinaso12433 жыл бұрын
Agree Midwest Although I’m very partial to park 1 just on how it hits on the high conductor. I do use field 1 as a follow up an an area I gridded. Field 2 there are 2 locations on the north shore of where we hunt I use exclusively.. off video what was being discussed is to keep an open mind to trying something new. His frustration was apparent so I gave him space, but the ring he found , I couldn’t believe how much iron was in that plug. Was very happy for him that he kept an open mind.

Merrill - Keep trying to detect with iron bias at zero. Get used to it and I think you’ll like the results. You will dig more iron, however you will also dig the good targets that get masked by the iron when your iron bias is cranked up. I don’t like digging iron, but I absolutely hate the idea that I’m missing good targets when detecting with any level of iron bias. Zero is my only iron bias setting.

I keep my Iron bias set on 3 fe2 on 3 also. I dig a lot of nails, etc, but I also see stuff that I couldn't see before with it off. Heavy iron areas you need it low so it doesn't filter out the good stuff.

Looks like you had Iron deposited on the ring by natural electrolysis. Salt water is highly conductive and the ring may have been in contact with Iron.

@philbinaso12433 жыл бұрын
To date I have not had a problem , coldest I ran it was about 20 degrees. But I bring it back in my house , I wouldn’t advise leaving it in the car or garage on freezing nights Circuit board could get compromised.

Hit a couple tot lots last weekend at -10 was fine for the two 20 minute hunts. Still found change under the wood chips under 4 inches of snow. I tie a plastic bag around the coil to keep snow from sticking to it and weighing the machine down. Also don't leave the machines in the car. Called it quits because I got cold. Nox was fine

@roelf86533 жыл бұрын
All turning iron discrimination up does is tell your machine to turn off the sound when it passes over a target it thinks is iron. If there is another target in the hole with the iron it will still turn the sound off and you won't hear it. If there is another target close to the iron and your coil passes over it, after passing over the iron, the sound may still be turned off and you wont hear it. Keep your discrimination as low as you can stand, swing low and slow and concentrate on what your hearing if you want to miss fewer good targets.

I think your confused with iron bias 0.. At 0 bias the machine has turned off the engineering that prevents you from digging steel bottlecaps etc. etc. In other words youll get more iron falsing at 0. But they say you will get deeper... It doesnt mean you will dig 0 iron.. Probably just the opposite..
@philbinaso12433 жыл бұрын
What Merrill meant for his viewers is that it does not mean you dig 0 iron. I get the confusion here. I just advised him today to run it low to get deeper and possible not have deeper non ferrous targets possibly masked.
@markholbrook39493 жыл бұрын
@@philbinaso1243 Yes that makes sense... That’s why I almost always dig at FE 0.. Even at FE 0 the Nox will still give you enough audible response while circling and swinging around the target if it’s a legit relic / coin or not... Most of the time anyways...
