Ming Aralias can grow to huge sizes in South Florida and also make great house plants. I once managed a nursery where we specialized in these and the other aralias. Enjoy and share but be sure to subscribe before leaving.
BTW- Please check out my other channel: Jupiter Inlet Boats and subscribe. It's a new channel and it takes a lot of time and effort to film the boats so I would appreciate the support.

Wow. So incredible! Have a Ming Aralia that we bought 29 years ago! It’s one of children though our children are quite a bit younger than Ming. It was 3 ft. tall then, it’s over 6’ now!! They really are so beautiful. Thank you for sharing the video of yours!!!

My husband has one that he got for $15, two years ago, and it’s his pride and joy, he’s never cut a leaf or branch off, and it hasn’t dropped any either. It’s an absolutely BEAUTIFUL plant. It’s a bit of a darker green than yours, and the leaves are bigger too I wish I could show you haha

I wish you could see the 2 huge ones I have in my yard, the video doesn't do them justice. A couple of pointers: Do not over water, all aralias like to be dry...real dry. Second, any change of location will usually result in leaves dropping so try to pick a spot and leave the plant there. These plants like to have a stable environment and do not like cold weather or drafts. Thanks for watching.

@@RichardSites Thank you so much for the response. I was starting to get worried because some of the leaves were dropping. I won't move it too much once it finds a comfortable spot in it's new home. Do you water it with fertilizer? I bought an all in-in-one Miracle Grow formula that I was considering using during this Spring and Summer?
@RichardSites
@RichardSites 4 жыл бұрын
I have used Peters 20-20-20 with great success in the past. I think watering with liquid fertilizer is a great idea, but temper amount of H20 and fert with growing conditions. The aralias are tough but will not tolerate too much water.

My favorite plant for the past 40 years! They're hard to find and no one's ever heard of them. I don't know why because they're fabulous! The thing is, I live in northern Maine, so they have to be indoor plants but I have one that's over 5' tall, in a big bucket inside, with a little spotlight underneath it. It gets flowers in the spring and the sap runs in the fall. They're just so lovely.
@RichardSites

They get to enormous sizes in Miami and when I was managing a commercial nursery 40 years ago, yard men who had been asked to remove them from properties would bring them into the nursery and sell them to us. My job was then to load these big monsters into a cart, drive them to the back of the nursery and pop them up for resale. I have several here in my yard. Thanks for watching and commenting.

8:16. I have a Ming question for you. … I have a 30 year old indoor Ming that’s always been super healthy. Recently it’s been yellowing in clusters and is getting kinda sparse. I know I’m not over watering. Wonder if this could be a symptom of under watering? Love to get your opinion. Than you so much!

This whole family of plants can tolerate very dry conditions. Maybe you moved the plant and it is adjusting to a new environment, i.e. light conditions, A/C or heat currents. Otherwise, not sure what to say.

Is it possible to prune the top of my Ming Aralia that has grown in my Apartment high sunroom. Now 7ft high and is too tall for any place in my home. I need to shorten the plant, can I prune it by cutting off the top 1. or 2ft
@RichardSites
@RichardSites 2 жыл бұрын
Of course, and you could make another plant but here's what I would suggest instead. Bend the tallest branch down and tie it in place to make it short enough to fit in the room. This is called "character" and will really add to the visual appeal of the ming. Good luck. BTW-Be sure to check out the tour of My Tropical Yard on the channel.

Thank you for the video. I moved to a house 3 years ago that had what I thought was a giant bonsai in the yard. I looked it up and think it's a ming aralia, about 6 ft tall....it is now doing poorly - yellowing and slumping over. I don't see any mites. I would really love it if you had any suggestions on how to save it? It is the most beautiful little tree I've ever seen.

I’m wondering if you can give me some advice? I have a young ming aralia, that I was not watering enough. She dropped ALOT of leaves (branches). Its doing much better now, but only has a few branches left. Is there a way to encourage faster leaf/branch growth?
@RichardSites
@RichardSites 2 жыл бұрын
Well, here’s what I know. The number one piece of advice is do not change their location. Any change in lighting or wind from an air conditioner vent will cause them to drop leaves. Also, make sure you are fertilizing. You might try watering with Peters 20-20-20 if you can find it.
@RichardSites

I'm not really sure but the feature of "character" is what drives the price up on these Ming Aurelius. They cannot stand changes in the temp., cool drafts or being too wet. Aralias really thrive in dry, sandy conditions. You should see the hedge I have here of another aralia variety.
