Its not art, its ballistics. The water slowed down the bullet. Kind of like muscle/tissue would. So that round did exactly what it was supposed to do.

Being a lowly European living in a country where it's illegal to have anything which even resembles a firearm ( like a starter / alarm pistol, pepperball pistoll - co2 pistol or even a plastic toy gun if it looks to real ), I never understood US gun laws especially the many differences between states. I am of the opinion that the wide availability of guns is the main reason the US has ... 'issues' with gun violence. With that I mean, violence in which a gun get's used, where this same violence over here would probably result in some stabby stabby action. I also think doing the stabby stabby thing takes a lot more 'balls' then shooting someone with a gun. Any time you want to stab someone you're at the same range you can get stabbed yourself ( or, if the other guy actually knows what he's doing and you do not, get disarmed and then beaten to a pulp ). Also, the ratio of stitches vs coffins does tend to go towards stabby stabby being less lethal. In my country the police have a monopoly right to use violence, and I am sure they try but we all know cops have the tendency to not be around when you need 'em, but being around to give you a ticket if you dare to jaywalk. Back to the mini-14 tho... what's the rationale for it being fine where AR15's are not? They can fire the same caliber, and are both capable of full-auto? Does it have to do with the age of the gun, since they were around already they didn't want to ban them?

I disagree with more guns equaling more violence, Americans used to be able to buy machine guns from a hardware store with no background check back before the 1986 machine gun ban. Yet we didn’t see near the violence we see today until the 90s ish. If you look at the numbers, roughly 19,000 are murdered every year by someone with a gun, if you break that number down by type of gun, around 89% are pistols, 10% are shotguns, and then 1% are rifles (these figures might be slightly off, but should be close). It’s mostly gang violence driving that number up. Then, if you look at the number of times guns are used in self defense, it absolutely blows that number out of the water at 1.7 Million per year, and that’s the low end figure, there are estimates that put it around 3 million a year. It’s hard to get a number for that down because not everyone files a police report when they produce a gun to scare off a home intruder, or to stop a car jacking, etc. So that shows that guns overwhelmingly are used to save lives in the US. As far as why is the Mini-14 legal where the AR-15 isn’t: looks. The Mini-14 usually comes in a complete wood stock, and looks like an older hunting rifle. Where as the AR-15 is well, made of black polymer and metal and looks scary. So it’s banned because of that. I kid you not. You’ll never find a more ignorant person than a US politician trying to have something banned, and I mean that across the board.

Guns don't kill people. People do. We also have less gun crime where lots of firearms are available. Firearms per person in Canada is surprisingly similar to us numbers. It's just our military that can't get them.

And: stabby stabby has a lower mortality rate ( aka more stitches then coffins ). The seriousness of the violence goes up. You can deny that, but here cops don't fear traffic stops as much. You do have the occasional nut case which floors his 18-wheeler and runs a cop over on purpose ( I mean if he did it twice, first time resulting in an officer losing a limb and him claiming 'it was an accident' and then not long after he does the same resulting in a death officer, yeah good luck convincing the judge it was another 'accident' ). But I also think that more people who would rather avoid the proximity needed to go stabby stabby out of fear of retaliation ( or knowledge they aren't that good with the stabby stabby thing ), would not feel the same fear puling a gun on someone. It's hard to proof, just like your number of time guns save lives. It's a bit like: well our kids grow up in a safe environment.. because they have armed guards at their schools throughout their lives. In that regard I can proof very easily that we don't have as many school shootings. And nowhere the number of incidents like home invasions or car jacking where arming everyone would make sense for 'self defense'. I do think it's a cultural issue right now, and maybe in the US it's a self fur fulling prophecy. People wanted guns to feel safe, so more people have guns. Which means more 'bad people' have guns as well. Btw, I was hoping there would be a technical reason for the mini-14 vs ar15's debate. It's not a good thing to have so little faith in politics that 'looks' determine outcomes in political debates. Then again, we also have that here. For example, Dutch pulse fishing got banned because the French were crying it was 'harmful' for the environment, after which EU banned pulse fishing based on those cries. Years later, scientific research catches up and proof the opposite, there is less environmental impact with pulse fishing compared with drag lines. So, some people wanted to declare the previous decision void... and then EU comes and says: nah, we don't have to make decisions based on science, it's alright if we do it based on feelings. I kid you not, this is literally what happened. Coming back to the mini-14.. I do think it's a much nicer looking gun then the ar15 ;)

@@grayboats7741 Unless there are sentient guns available in the stores there, you must be right ;) Guns do kill people 'better' as knives for instance. It's just a lower barrier to shoot someone from a safe distance compared to needing to walk up to someone to go stabby stabby. I don't think I ever heard Canada being an at risk country for running into the wrong side of a gun. Do you have school shootings like in the US? A big part of why I think the gun violence is 'bad' is because of the US health care system. To many people who shouldn't have access to guns can get one without a lot off effort. Which ties perfectly with you saying guns don't kill people, people do. That's just a fact, guns don't come with automated triggers like Skippy in cyberpunk lol. So if we accept it's people who pull the trigger, screening which people can pull that trigger would prevent them from doing so 'at the wrong time'.

Well if you dont know the history about the Mini 14 you mine as well make it up huh? The mini 14 was developed after the military trials and was NEVER TESTED! Also the Mini 14 is still being used by law enforcement.

Very small number of law enforcement agencies (mostly correctional facilities) use it. I’ll be honest that I didn’t dig too much into the history of the rifle as it wasn’t the sole purpose of the video, but it wasn’t really widely adopted in any capacity either way.
