i never flew before. I bought this plane after watching your video, clicked on your link and ordered it. I have flown it 2 times in a soccer field with no wind ok. First time I crashed every 20 seconds. Second time I was able to fly for about a minute before crashing. no damage. If I get close to a tree, I just cut power and crash it. It really takes a beating without damage. Even drove it straight down into the ground full throttle a few times. When you make a sharp bank, it nose dives (I guess because no ailerons so can't use ruder to prevent dive). But it is teaching me to be gentle with the controls. Takes a while to develop eye-hand coordination. Still turn the wrong way sometimes when it is coming right at me, but will probably eventually learn not to do that. It does porpoise a lot. Haven't figured out what causes that. I tried full power, and less than full power. I think it is best about 1/2 throttle, but still no consistent so advice is welcome. I really like that I can crash it a lot without damage so I can learn as I go. I just bought it in late Sept 2020 for $100 including shipping (excluding tax), and I bet I can sell it locally for $75 when I'm ready to move up. Not many weekends left to fly, so I'll probably join a club in the spring. My goal is to eventually get good enough to buy one of those 100MPH A-10 Worthogs.

Brett Hammond sounds like you’ve got it going well. Take a look at our turbo Timber vids. That is a great second plane plus it has safe select if you want it. Sounds like your doing well.

This is a small beginner plane so adding Ailerons would only add weight making it harder to fly and decreasing the all important run time. If you want a 4 Chanel plane with Ailerons buy the full size version.

I have the bigger Aeroscout. I like it and it’s probably easier to fly as it has tricycle gear, ailerons, and stability control.

This is an awesome option on top of the larger RTF. The nose gear on the larger is so weak that I'm concerned about letting my kids land it. This UMX tricycle option will serve some a lot better. I could also see this as being more fun for them cause I could take them to a local ball field more often instead of the RC field some 30 minutes away. Makes me wish I had less wind here so I could use it with them instead of the original. I'd be more inclined to let my 8yo try to land it.

Hey anyone know how it does in different strenghts of wind. i live in london where it is windy quite often so im tryna look for a plane under £100 that would work fine in windy weather.

Nice review Ryan, great little plane, I'm buying this for my nephew who is a beginner pilot. So I'm seeing in the video a lot of porpoising, is this a CG problem? In my past experience with these pusher planes they all seem tail heavy, any room in the fuselage to move the battery forward if not I'll try a little nose weight....

I've see the porpoising on other videos too. It seems like a fun plane, but might need some work on the CoG. And for the money, you can get a 4ch that flies just as easily, or for a little more money, a 4ch brushless plane like the OMPhobby S720/T720. Which can also bind to any radio, since it has the option to plug in DSM or Sbus receiver. For a brushed 4ch I'd recommend the Volantex Sport Cub 500 or one of the Eachine micro warbirds.

Good video. I'd much rather see these companies come out with true four channel planes with more powerful motors. A plane can always be flown with less throttle for slow flight but in windier conditions the weak motors will just lead to a new pilots disappointment. Yep I was disappointed by a couple of planes that almost got lost because of a breeze that was a little stronger than the motor. Actually crashed a couple of times on purpose to keep from losing the plane. The Duet and the Sport Cub S2 come to mind. More channels and bigger motor cost a little more, I know, but in the long run the plane will be a keeper rather than a closet hog.

@@joeg986 so: weak motor (unable to do loops like the umx champ can) and unable to bind to radio. That is very disappointing. I had high hopes for this plane as it was a pusher prop and made out of epp foam. 3 channel was a little disappointing, lack tricle (i can see how that would make it more complex and less durable). But the lack of power and not be able to bind- that is a huge turn off. Solve those last 2 with 30 more and you have customers and a very good durable trainer than can replace the champ

I bought the bigger Aeroscout and liked it but found it quite hard to fly because of it's weight and speed. I just picked up the mini and I'm hoping it will be be easier.

How did you like the mini instead of the Aeroscout?
@dawood9390
@dawood9390 2 жыл бұрын
@@Ddurocher82 It was absolutely awful. Do not buy it. As I gained more experience, flying I went back to the original Aeroscout and found it much easier to fly than before. It would be quite illogical, in my opinion, to spend 100$ on the mini rather than just putting in about 100$ more and getting the bigger one which you will actually have fun with.
