It's been a really hard week for us, so I decided to spend some time today playing in my sketchbook with a handful of new art supplies I've purchased over the past couple of weeks. I've added to my Molotow acrylic paint marker collection, bought four new paints, and a few other pens and coloured pencils too. I felt so relaxed during this swatching session and it really helped to cheer me up a bit. I hope you're all doing well this week and that you enjoy the video. Natasha xxx

I'm glad you found some respite from the situation that is troubling you. I find art to be really helpful when I'm going through something difficult, both as a bit of an escape and sometimes a method of working through things. I always enjoy a good haul, despite the potential hazard to my bank balance, they're so relaxing it's like chatting with a friend. With regards to neon, it always reminds me of junior school discos - I had a couple of pairs of shiny black cycling shorts, one with a neon green stripe down the outer leg, and the other with neon pink. Whichever pair I decided on was paired with a neon t shirt of the opposing colour, and of course the obligatory odd green/pink socks and double pink and green scrunchies! It was considered an extremely stylish look by myself and my fellow 8-11 year olds at the time.

Sorry to hear that you have a hard time. I hope things are getting better soon. Another youtuber (cannot remember her name) said that pencils layer better on regular gouache than on acrylic gouache because of the binder in the acrylic gouache. Maybe that helps. When I use the Museum Aquarelles I get rid of all the pencil strokes and end up with a smooth application. I used them on 100% cotton paper and pastelmat so far. Maybe you are too heavy handed with them. Loved your swatch video as always. So relaxing! I like the voiceover instead of just music.
@NatashaNewtonArt3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Silke! I think that it's the type of paper I'm using that is causing the issue with the Museum Aquarelle pencils (although I did quite like the effect!). Thanks Meke! I'm so glad that you're enjoying the videos. :) There watercolours featured in this video are the MaimeriBlu 'Green Gold' and the Holbein Artists' Watercolour 'Davy's Grey'. The neon coloured pencils are Holbein Artists' Colored Pencils in 'Luminous Opera' and 'Chartreuse Green'. Have a lovely weekend!
