Mini bike carburetor comparison
Tested a 24MM PWK a 65MM PWK and a 28MM PWK carburetor on the Predator 224 powered GTS minibike to see which would perform the best out of the three.

You might also need to go down on the jet sizing for the smaller carbs as they'll get more vacuum signal from the engine and pull more fuel even through the same size jets.

Awesome looking bike B66. The chrome is very nice touch. I find it very interesting the impact of carburetor size and jetting at different elevations. Logic would say the bigger the carb the better, but that is not always the case. Science and engineering is amazing!

Thanks for taking this one on. Probably one of the hardest variables to test. You might look into a header mounted O2 sensor to compare A/F ratios between the carbs. My hunch is that the smaller carb runs a bit richer. But your results were not linear, so who knows!

@999benhonda 7 ай бұрын
Interesting comparison, but the different sized carbs needed different size jets to work at their best. The smaller carbs running the same jets as the big one likely made the mixture rich.

Black 66, Sweet comparison! On my predator 212 hemi build with all billet parts, flat top piston, banzai 265 cam and ported 224 head the 28mm is night and day compared to a nibbi 24mm and 24mm flatslide carb…thaught it would be too big of a carb! But its not! Thanks for sharing👍

another cool metric I think would be very useful would be a mid range test. Say 20-40 mph to compare how the engine performs in that range we're driving in most of the time.

4.54 is pretty decent compared to a car from a red light they usually can't keep up unless there just actin like they can't but on a automatic car a minibike is def faster when the car hits 15 mph it shifts most of the time by then I'm almost at 30

what gear ratio do you have on that bike roughly if you dont mind me asking? I have a mini chopper i built from scratch with a 212 tilly, 265 cam, pipe, billet rod/flywheel, vm22 and have a 5:5.1 ratio and only get about 49 out of it with a juggernaut and 14" tire. goin to gear it up a tooth on the front to hopefully hit close to 60. I think it wants more carb also so i may try a 24 or 26mm?

@@Black66 ive done that, but you never know how much the engine will rev so i found one of your vids and it was perfect info as usual haha! doodlebug gear swap. you had a 4:6.1 and hit almost 50 with room to go before you shut her down. ill be at 4;9.1 with a taller tire so thatll be perfect. I might replace the vm22 with a nibbi24 and even put a bigger duration cam in place of the banzai 265 to get her really revving?! right now with a 5;5.1 itll do about 50 and also pull a wheelie for about 20 feet so these mods might really help lol!?

Disconnect the throttle cable see if it still does it. If it doeant then ,that's the reason throttle adjustment , if it still over reves it the slide adjustment on the side of the carb. Most likely

so you are running stock carb then correct? has it been jetted? and what about exhaust? if that's the case then bro get a 24 mm nibbi PE, (thats what i would get and what i run right now, but get whatever you feel is right and what you want), and dude youre gonna see some major gains. its gonna be sick i guarantee it. i couldn't hardly believe the increase in speed and throttle response at first. i shit you not bro i gained 10+ mph from just the carb.i had to jet it correctly of course cuz they come set up for like 125 cc dirt bike. so youre gonna need the jet kit as well. the carb and jet kit came out to be around 75 bucks. you could get knock off mikunis and shit for cheap but i like to get authentic shit when it comes to my mini bikes lol and mikunis are not cheap at all, which also why i suggested the nibbi. 60 bucks for damn near the same outcome. Ok I’m writing this having only watched the 28mm trials…. I’m gonna say just by listening to that 224 that it’s too much carb for that build. It sounds weak.. that’s not a dis just an observation. I’m betting RN that the 26 and 24mm do better… I have a Mikuni 28mm flatslide for my 241cc small block with a 32/25 head. Until I got that head and that 285 cam I have I was not gonna do 28mm. My question now is since my head is 32/25 what’s the max I can do without issues or waste? I’m wondering if 30mm carb can work now.

I also have a semi modified 224... Since I swapped out for billet internals and 18 lbs springs.. it runs really hot.. almost immediately.. I've read a stock spark plug could be the cause of that.. do you know any truth to that?

That vacuum on the 24mm was just right for that size engine. With a little tuning I bet you can beat the 28mm top end and have a way nicer mid range. It’s all about that signal to the carb. You found the sweet spot but I got a hunch you already knew exactly what you were doing when you made the video. This isn’t your first rodeo
