For making this mini bow I am going to use bamboo and rose wood. A piece of bamboo is cut to size using hacksaw and sanded. For sanding I'm using 80 grit sandpaper glued to a PVC board. Dimensions of the bamboo piece is 235X7X2 mm. Rose wood strip is cut to size using a jigsaw and sanded. Dimensions of the fourth wood piece is 235X7X1 mm. IPE is the best wood for the bow. Now we need two more pieces of wood for the bow, one is power lambs (2:28) and a handle piece (2:32). Handle piece is 34X7X4 and power lamb is 42x7x2. All the parts of the bow are glued together using epoxy. I am not using a 5 min epoxy since we need time to work on the bow. So I am using a standard araldite epoxy with a working time of 45min. I am not using a specific style of bow, I have taken inspiration from re-curve bow and reflex deflex bow. Two materials (Laminated bow)(Bamboo and wood) are used in the bow for a specific reason( en.wikipedia.o....
All the wood pieces are glued together and sanded to shape. A string is wrapped the entire length of the bow to keep an even pressure across the bow while the epoxy is curing. Shape of the mini bow is set using some claps and wood pieces. Middle of the bow is 7 mm wide and the ends are 3 mm. Both the bow limbs should move the same length when they are pulled. This is checked using a paper with some markers and the underside of the bow is sanded to make the displacement the same. A small wood piece (3X2X7 mm) is glued and sanded to make the groove for the bow string. Handle and arrow groove is also made. I am making a Flemish twist bow string using banana fiber. It is important to use the outer fiber of the banana since they are stronger. There are many good articles and videos regarding Flemish twist bow strings so I am not explaining it in detail. Now it's time to make an arrow. Arrow shaft is made from bamboo. A piece of bamboo is fixed to the drill machine and a sand paper is used to make it round. Arrow tip is made from a pen nib and a sheet metal of thickness of 0.5 mm. I am using Dremel and hacksaw to shape it. Both the nib and the arrow tip are soldered using flex and lead solder. Then the arrow tip is glued to the shaft and a string is tied to the end to make it stronger. Feather is also glued and tied to the arrow. Thanks 👍, Try using some water based glue on the string. Apply glue and dry with the string under tension and right amout of twist. Also try hand picking strongest fibers.

Since we don't have bamboo, I tried some mahogany and maple. But I made it too small, so starting over. If you have any other hardwoods I might use, please let me know. Also, can I use contact cement for the animation? It would be flexible for longer perhaps? I was using Tightbond 111 as it is waterproof too, and you can then steam the bend? Or is it the glue that helps give it the bend shape after wrap and clamping? Not sure, anyway, giving it all another go since my first one broke!LOL this is fun to try. I would like to try the recurve bow, but would have to do it all in wood as I don't have the aluminum for the metal section. Purple heart wood should be tough enough!? Thanks so much, this is a great challenge in my carving works!
