I am from the old school. The school where we wore our hair in mini braids back in the early 70's but got called Buckwheat. THEN an Actress named Bo Derek braided her long blonde hair into mini braids and some Black Women started buying hair imported from China to attach to their hair in order to have "long" hair. Well the verdict is IN. These weaves have eaten women's hair out clear back to the crown of their heads. Black Women's hair is the only hair on EARTH that can be worn natural "Afro", pressed and curled, permed, braided, or cornrowed without damaging the hair. No other race can do that, but yet we won't take time to do what you have done on the video. Thank You for posting this. I am 66 years old and decided to roll back the hands of time and braid my hair in mini braids to show some of the young women in my area what braids are about, and it's not about attaching fake strings processed into what looks like hair to their heads. My hair was 3 inches short when I braided it. One year later it's 9 inch long and still growing. I wash and condition and repair my braids every 2 weeks without fail.

@@Stylesbymichal I can hardly get out of Walmart and big department stores for young women coming over to me asking me how did I get my hair like this. Some of them have weave in their hair asking me this question. My answer is I sat down and braided my hair. Period. Then they ask how long did it take, and do you wash it. I am knocked off my feet at the response I get from women when I am out in public. What I have noticed is some of my young female relatives are taking the weave out and braiding their hair. Most of them have a lot of damage and really need professional help on healing their scalp.

If you feel like ur edges are thinning out then give them a break or use castor oil or some type of growth oil so before you do your edges and use it also when you aren’t doing your edges this will grow ur hair back🙃Also I love ur hairstyle❤️

Thank you my love. I actually started doing that two months ago.. and you’re correct castor oil helps. My edges looking strong now these days. ☺️🥰

Big question: how do I deal with the aftermath? I recently kept my hair in this style for nearly 3 weeks, and when I took them out, my hair shedded so much! I moisturized it often and kept my bonnet on literally the entire time, but the takedown and the detangling process was a mess
@Stylesbymichal4 жыл бұрын
When it comes to taking these down I prefer to use a rat tail comb and slowly take them down. The only time I moisturized my hair was In This video. During the weeks of them being in.. I only payed attention to my scalp. Which only meant me oiling my scalp and massaging it.
@daisiesandpandas12183 жыл бұрын
Your hair shed everyday, 100-150 strands, and they get trapped in the braids until you take them out. When you take braids out don't do it on wet hair, do it dry, carefully take out the braids and whistles it's stretched try and work out the shed hairs, if you need a bit of slip, use oil. The key is not to let hair shrink with shed hair in it, shrunk hair tangles and shed hair will make it worse

Quick got2be question as I don’t wear wigs and I’ve never used this gel. When you say to make sure it’s tacky/ sticky ... will it remain tacky/sticky or will it dry differently.
@Stylesbymichal4 жыл бұрын
It won't be tacky and sticky when it dries. However, when the gel dries it gives your edges a pretty strong hold.

so this style promotes growth ?
@tamtam2254 жыл бұрын
It can as it’s a low manipulation style. My hair definitely grows with braids of any style.
@Stylesbymichal4 жыл бұрын
Yes it does. However, you want to make sure that you’re washing the braids and re moisturizing your hair if you plan on just keeping the braids in for longer than 2 weeks.

My 4c doesn’t really curl, so what should I do about the ends?
@Stylesbymichal4 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t matter if your ends curl or not. I would just add some accessories to it. Accessories always helps make a difference. This is just a low manipulation protective style that helps your hair grow.
