It is fun, and it is funky - and those are two positive points for the 2023 Mini Cooper Electric. But there's a catch...
Well, it's expensive, and it doesn't have very much EV driving range compared to other cars that cost less.
Whether that matters to you or not will be determined by what you want from an EV. If you think a premium hatchback with compact dimensions and fun driving dynamics is right for you, then maybe you can forgive the 233km driving range claim, and the $60K-plus price tag.
Or you might be thinking, 'damn, I could get a Hyundai Kona Electric, or Kia Niro Electric, or Mazda MX-30 EV, or even a Model 3 for similar money!'...
In this review, our resident new-energy vehicle expert Tom White judges the Mini in context of its rivals, but with consideration given to what the Mini brand is all about. Watch to see what he thinks of the new 2023 Mini Cooper Electric hatch.
