Thank you so much! I have an 2 door hatchback 06 mini. I’m going to change the transmission fluid myself for the first time today. Expenses in life are so out of hand and I’ve been wanting to know more to be more self sufficient. I really appreciate your video. Super informative and easy to follow. I am a 39 year old female and don’t know much about cars but am now trying to learn. Thanks again, feeling much more confident in this now.

Glad my video helped and so glad to hear you're willing to take on some of the maintenance of your car. You'll save time, money and the work will get done well.

WOW! Excellent, straight to the point, no long monolog, no crazy hard music. Perfect. Maybe you can do this for the F56 7 speed automatic? TIA.

I'm glad you like it. Thanks for the feedback. I believe you've got the Getrag not the Aisin. Unlike the manuals, It has 2 serviceable filters you can replace with your fluid change. Measure what you drain out and just follow the fill process. I've not done one but you may need ISTA programing to complete the process. Search on Getrag GS7D36SG or BMW DCT Transmission oil and Filter Change for more info. I hope that helps. Thanks for sharing.

Great video thank you. What pipe did you use? Presume has to be a certain fit?

The threads on the fill and drain plugs are 18mm. I recommend using the largest tubing that will fit in the filler hole and also work with your funnel. I believe I used 3/8 I.D. in the video and it was slow even when I warmed the fluid. I think you could get away with 1/2-inch and still fit in the filler hole so long as it fits nicely on your funnel. Thanks for sharing.

Great idea of doing it with gravity instead of the punp :D When jacking up a car and draining old fluid you can place bottles with new fluid on the engine so they will get warmer, don't they? I'll try to change my fluid soon ;)

Thanks. I'm glad it helped. I got lucky with the sunny day. Otherwise I just let the bottles sit in some warmed up water to thin the fluid.

So do the transmission and differential share a common fluid reservoir?
@ScubaMoto Жыл бұрын
yes, they share fluid on this vehicle.

Hey man thanks for the video. I noticed you’re running continental extreme SRS can you give me any feedback on those tires? Second if you ever used the DWS how would you compare both, thanks.
@ScubaMoto Жыл бұрын
I'm not the primary driver, but I hear it's been a good fairly quiet freeway tire with good rain traction.
@denzelw9664 Жыл бұрын
@@ScubaMoto Thanks. A manager at discount tire told me they’re quieter than the DWS also they give a more comfortable ride over the DWS. Nice looking car you have there.
@denzelw9664 Жыл бұрын
I suspect you went up a size to 215 on those tires.
@ScubaMoto Жыл бұрын
You guessed it. 215/45ZR17 on the Clubman 17 wheels.

To ensure correct and fresh fluids, all used vehicles I buy get new fluids immediately unless I have good evidence of near-term replacement. I made a quick call to a dealer service for fluid types they are happy with. In each case I put fluid in using the same method I show in the transmission video kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYa8eoGXiNt1Zqc Front and rear differential fluid replacement (75/90 GL5 synthetic M1) on the rover was easy enough that I didn't even take footage and I'm not sure I even needed to lift it much. For Transfer case fluid replacement, I believe I used Royal Purple GL4.

Once changed, how to reset the mileage of the transmission fluid?
@ScubaMoto6 ай бұрын
Since they recommend fluid for life, they do not have and did not program a maintenance interval into the ECM.
@georgefc91686 ай бұрын
Hi there, would it be the same oil for the r53 with the factory LSD?
@ScubaMoto6 ай бұрын
The fluid in the video is a good GL4 and will work for your R53.
