There are many influencers that promote really expensive devices like led caps for hair loss or some led devices that cost 500 up to 4000 dollars... then you see that they don't get any improvements (even if they say that they actually work) and they go professionals to have procedures on their faces or to other countries to have hair transplant... I mean, if a shitty cap that cost 2000/3000 dollars (it means a 2 or 3 month medium salary in Europe) and that doesn't work, I would call out that company for scam!

It really makes me sad to see so many dermatologists promoting devices for money. Many of these dermatologists admit they dont use them themselves and don't really think they work yet they get paid a lot of money ($20k-30k a post) to promote them. The integrity in our industry is lacking. Many derms just make a living by sponsoring these companies. Anfd they get paid very well. They don't even see patients anymore. They make a living off of affiliates and paid partnerships on social media. If you look at their instagram accounts there are no posts of them treating patients- because they dont. They just make videos and reels and get paid more money by doing that than they would by making a living seeing and caring for patients. They are reading scripts making youtube videos promoting brands- Affiliate links, paid partnerships, sponsored you tube content, etc. Its so gross to me and I would never do it. My education and my credentials are not for sale. I had a mentor who told me "never be bought by a company- you are no ones person". That was the best advice that I have ever been given as a young doctor coming out of fellowship. I've stayed true to this and only recommend what I truly feel is best for my patients- not because I'm getting paid by a company to do so.

Dr. Stefani I have also seen this in youtube and instagram. These doctors don’t even see patients anymore yet recommend so many devices and skincare companies. How are they able to keep the license to be a derm if they don’t actually see patients? I am wondering about a popular YT/insta derm. Her whole life is just ads and vlogging and she is never in a white jacket unless it is for an ad. Seems so dishonest to me.

Great video. I've been using beauty devices for 4 years now and I can tell you they work! I do not do any in-office procedures. I neglected my skin and didn't start my journey until I was 47. My skin was really starting to sag. I started with microcurrent but major results happened when I added in Radio Frequency. At-home RF devices have really improved in their technology and safety. Dr. Kappal is correct that they are more time consuming and you have to be consistent! Also, you wont get results as you would in-office. However, if you are looking to turn back the hands of time in a suble way, and can be consistent, you'll see results. And of course SPF daily! Also, do mot overuse them. You should always use as directed. Thank Dr. Kappal. I love your channel! You are so informative! ❤️🙏

I appreciate and have been waiting for this video, thank you! I will say, I bought the NIRA original for around $365? a few years ago when it was first released. I hadn’t seen any pictures or marketing stuff just wanted to try it. I figured if it worked at all, it was still something I could use over and over and it would be cost effective over time. I fell in LOVE, like deep love!! No I’m not paid, or work for the company or affiliates etc. I just quickly noticed with daily use the fine lines at my crows feet improved dramatically as well as texture on my eyelids (I’m 55), the hollows at the outer corner of my eyes, lines on my forehead and 11’s, naso folds and even neck and wrist wrinkles. The thinning skin on my forehead turned smoother and bouncier. I thought if these were my results, I should buy the larger one and that was wasted money. The big one burned me and it broke. The company was great about giving me a return but I didn’t get it back in time, my fault. I went for about a year without using the NIRA and with health issues my skin looked bad again so I’ve started using the original one with again, the same type of happy results. My only questions about it have been 1) was it only working because it was causing temporary inflammation and 2) did it create long term collagen loss through the heat? Still not sure about the potential for collagen loss but supposedly it’s such a short wave length into the skin, the company swears it’s not able to go deep enough to create that fat loss. 🤷🏼♀️. At the end of the day, it’s a staple for my skin but wish I would have put the money I spent on the 2nd device towards an office procedure. I had an ablative Fraxel laser with a plastic surgeon in my mid 30’s so I well know the professional lasers can do incredible things! Everybody thought I was much younger than I was clear into my 40’s and I credit that to staying out of the sun/sunscreen daily, active ingredient skin care (especially retinols) and that Fraxel. Hope this helps others who are trying to decide. It’s the one thing I’ve done at home that has made a huge difference in my aging and saggy or wrinkled areas. I still do hope to do more professional lasers when I can afford it someday.

Thank you so much for sharing your detailed experience with the NIRA! It's fantastic to hear how well it has worked for you. The NIRA uses non-fractional laser technology to stimulate collagen production by gently heating the dermis. Unlike other treatments causing temporary inflammation, NIRA focuses on long-term collagen growth without heat damage. We ensure the device's wavelength avoids deep skin penetration, reducing the risk of fat loss.

I also have used so many clinically recommended skincare lines (zo, obagi, etc)consistently plus tretinoin in which none of it has ever given me the consistently clear skin that the nira pro has. when I used to get aerolase treatments monthly the results only lasted a week. I do want a better in office treatment eventually but for the time being this providing decent enough results. The collagen that gets stimulated has a half life of 4-6 years, The confusion occurs when the aging process continues because you are also losing collagen each year. So for someone over 50, they may need or want Thermage more frequently than every 4-6 years because although their Thermage results are lasting 4-6 years, they are losing it at a faster pace, and need it more frequently. I hope this makes sense? For ex, I started doing Thermage at age 30 to collagen bank. I did it at age 30, 35, 40 and 45. ut after I turn 50, I might start doing it more frequently than every 5 years and may start doing it every 3 years. We'll see and I'll keep you updated!

I’ve tried many at home devices none that did anything noticeable except the Lyma laser which is a cold laser so you don’t have to worry about hyperpigmentation , for the record I’m post menopausal I used it for one hour every night for 3 months straight while watching TV it made the quality of my skin look so much more youthful and just better all around it was very noticeable , I thought about buying it for about 3 years but when a world famous plastic surgeon started selling it I decided to purchase it, he has a waiting list of over a year, and is someone who I went to years ago for noninvasive treatments before I moved , this is a doctor I feel is very ethical so with this in mind I purchased the device from the LYMA website and have been pleased. I still plan to do noninvasive office treatments in the future with doctors but this is my two cents on the device. I do also like the Halo device. I wish you had touched more on the Lyma being a cold laser and what the possible future cold lasers may pay play in skin care and healing, I know some people use the Lyma after facelifts and feel it accelerates scar healing.

This is such great feedback and anecdotal data is very helpful. The near infared wavelength has the advantage over LED wavelengths that produce heat causing hyperpigmentation. I tried to pack as much info as I can in my videos but much gets editd put to keep the length a little shorter (otherwise my videos would be an hour or more long). I had 2 different patients who flew in to see me as they both lived in rural towns and had to rely on at home devices. Both patients were disappointed with the LYMA laser and after spending close to $3000 they weree very disatisfied. So sharing experiences on this safe and open forum may be helpful as even for me it is hard to tell if thses devices are worth the money. I think also it may have a lot to do with setting expectations.

Hi, love your videos they are so informative. I had a lower belph with fat transfer which didn't take at all. So I have hollows under my eyes. That is what I wanted to correct. An a endoscopic brow lift. My plastic surgeon is doing CO2 laser free under my eyes. I will have to pay to do my face. They told me I would have to have general anesthesia for the face. Is this correct or can they use a numbing cream? Can you have laser done on eyelids. Will the laser help the troughs? Sorry this is so long. Thanks

On the days I don’t use it. I use nuface. I am 76 and I hope I don’t look my age, but I am sure that using them doesn’t harm my skin. I have been considering s RF at device. But have not done enough research to make that decision. All these devices are expensive. So when I buy one. I make the time to use it. And that’s the only way to see improvement.

Dr. Kappel, could you explain how the Titan by Cutera treatment works and also talk about the different chemical peels out there? Also, I had my first peel done recently. It was a Skinmedica mid level peel. I was swollen, red, and itchy for days! I’d like to benefit from peels but that was slightly traumatic…in any case, what are your favorite peels and the recommended way to go about them? I hear they are not great to do in the summer…

@DrStefaniKappel7 ай бұрын
I cannot say for sure but hopefully not. It is possible tho, which can be scary
@TheMijas077 ай бұрын
Be careful using it on the higher settings - it should be ok level 1-3.
@NIRA_skin7 ай бұрын
The NIRA Laser only heats up the papillary region of the skin, and since it is non-fractional, it is not invasive or damaging to the skin. It will not melt or destroy fat cells. It works by heating up the water underneath your skin, and this triggers collagen to start building. When used consistently, skin will smooth out for an overall healthier complexion.
@TheMijas077 ай бұрын
@@NIRA_skin I can only say from personal use, that it didn't help me, especially around my eye area, where it seemed to make things worse. However, I used it on the highest setting, which on reflection, I should not have. If I'd stayed at the lower levels, 1-3 it might well have worked. I used it for almost 90 days and returned it. I wish I'd have better reports back on my experience.

Microcurrent increases ATP which is energy for the cells. Increasing ATP causes the skin cells to behave more youthfully and optimally. I've seen complaints on the internet that microcurrent can cause fat loss. Its so hard to know what's what.

Its so hard to say and given there is no regulation, fat atrophy could be a risk esp with the more shady companies 😬

I love hearing your perspective and knowledge, but to call yourself unbiased is stretching the truth. You’re always talking about how you’re unsponsored but you run a business and have a skin care line. There is a little bit of bias towards the treatments that you sell and that’s ok! Let’s be for real though.
