Your welds make me and baby Jesus want to cry but you have a working boat so good on you!

youre damn right those were awful haha. Only saving grace is they turned out to be pretty strong considering what we've put the boat through. The next boats will be much better.

Thank you! it was quite the learning process, but i think it turned out nice.

You need to get some smaller wire for your spool gun....it’ll allow you to run less heat....do smaller welds for the more precise welding you end up doing. You’ll get plenty of penetration still
@Localhost1274 жыл бұрын
Thats very good advice! I should have purchased some .030 wire and tips as well!
@black07rr4 жыл бұрын
Mike Heying I have about 15 years of welding under my belt....I’m happy to help how I can....everything you’ve done really only required .030 wire
@Noahlochner04 жыл бұрын
You should just get some aluminum polish and polish the everlovin efff out of everything that isn’t getting wrapped. 🤘🤘🤘
@Localhost1274 жыл бұрын
I need to do that, I think it would look great! That might have to be the next project.
@jonjohnson1024 жыл бұрын
That would be lit

@@Localhost127 I use "Mothers aluminum and magnesium polish" and it seems to work great! its pretty cheap on amazon too, although Idk how much you'd need to get for an entire boat. but regardless it would look killer.

And you’re one brave individual welding on a fuel tank when it has fuel in it😂
@Adam1911M4 жыл бұрын
Are you welding on a fuel tank? Looking good , like the vids 👍
@Localhost1274 жыл бұрын
Yes lol. Words can’t describe the butt Puckering that was happening while doing that. I stopped filming so I could be fully aware of the situation. The tank had about 1/2 gallon left in it but had the fire extinguisher and hose VERY ready.
@Adam1911M4 жыл бұрын
@@Localhost127 Damn that is so risky, it would explode then there would be fire not sure if you would be conscious enough to be putting out a fire if even alive. The fumes are the dangerous part a bit in the bottom might be the most dangerous, Im not here too lecture you but if your welding on a fuel tank might as well film so we can see the blast 😳😳
@doylesanderson96974 жыл бұрын
You should purge the tank with argon to displace the flammable gas vapor.
@Localhost1274 жыл бұрын
Thats Genius! It also helps that i have a 300CF tank thats full of it in the corner of the garage. I'll use this method going forward.

You should polish the boat would look sick. If you do polish use zephyr polishing kit. Lots of good videos on KZbin how to use their product. Looking awesome man keep up the good work.
@Localhost1274 жыл бұрын
I keep going back and forth on polish vs just a dull sheen. Polished seems like it will get noticeably scratched very easily.

Thinking about building one and putting in a coyote engine in. Your opinion! Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
@Localhost1274 жыл бұрын
That would be one hell of a ripper! I would suggest at minimum a 14' boat to accommodate something like that. You would just have to work through the cooling system for the motor to get it marinized. If your plan is to run the shallows, I would certainly choose another power plant just due to weight. Pushing these things through mud sand and gravel is absolutely awful.

@@Localhost127 thanks for your thoughts. Not really sure what engine I want to use yet. I can't find anything reasonable. So if I gotta get something more expensive, I figured I'd just go big, all the way. Did you have any issues as far as making it "lake legal"? Here I gotta get any boat registered, even kayaks. My coworker built a wooden boat and he told me he just trailered it to the coast guard station and they just did I quick glance. Nothing big. As far as polishing your boat like others suggested, yes, it would look great, but wouldn't really last very long after a hand full of times out. Aluminum also oxidizes pretty quickly. You'd have to put a clear coat on. A lot of work.
