I absolutely LOVE your channel! Not only have you taught me how to fix multiple issues with my vacuums, but, you make your videos interesting!! Because of you, I don’t just do crunchy vacuum videos, I also show me working on my machines! I have a few you might enjoy! Thank you for being so amazing!

These Concept One's vacuums are my 2nd favorite vacuums from Hoover (and if you know me, you know which one is my number 1), I just love how well built they are compared to even the Hoovers from the 90s, and it's a shame that parts are getting very scarce for these old systems. I was honestly shocked this didn't have as much airflow (even on high speed) compared to a Convertible or an Elite, but at least it makes up for it with great agitation from the Quadraflex roller (on that note, the brush strips don't look too bad to me, I have a few Concept's myself that have brush strips that low, at least the stiffeners gives them great agitation, if you need replacement strips, Convertible strips should be able to fit these Concepts, but they will be a bit longer and may contact the brush housing/rug plate frequently until they wear down, or maybe you can find a roller from another Concept that was sold for parts that has good strips)

Hey, Jeff! Cool machine!! My late aunt had a Concept 1 with the dark green bag. It was a powerful machine, but she would later buy an Oreck. I wound up with it for awhile, but I later traded it for some Kirby supplies.

Interesting. I still like my Kirby G3...it still has some issues after I repaired the most pertinent things on it as it still needs a new height adjuster as you push on it the whole thing falls down onto the carpet in one motion as opposed to doing the ratchet and it may also need a new linear bearing set for the handle as it's pretty jerky as well as some work to the transmission as it clacks when the handle is pushed forward or backward. Overall, though, it has served us well, both my Aunt before me and my Mom and I when we help clean my Grandma's house.

That clacking when changing directions is the shaft shifting in the wheel, and clicking mid-stride is a weakened spring/worn cogs on the drive engagement clutch connected to the N/D lever. The second one may be worth fixing, but the wheel shifting is pretty normal and not something to worry about

I'd actually consider those brush inserts in pretty good shape. Usually, all you get is the stiffener as a beater bar and not much else.

I had a red 1 it worked well I use the hose conversion and tools also hoover used to be a wonderful company

I remember having to tell a customer, for the first time, that their Concept wasn't repairable, because the brush strips were worn to nothhing and we couldn't get any, and didn't have any more. This was several years after I heard they finally quit making them, so there was a vast supply that did get used up.

I used my blue Concept as a daily driver until the day they quit making the strips, decided I'd rather preserve it for enjoyment rather than hurry up and clap it out.

I have read that a DAM brush roll can be modified to fit these, and that the strips are still available for the DAM

The brush strips have been NLA for years now. I have bought a whole donor machine just for the brush strips. I’ve been told you can use a brush roll from a Power Drive Dial A Matic swapping the end caps. However you would lose the Quadraflex action.

I read (not sure if this is true) that TTI held the patent because they bought Hoover and the rights to parts for the Concept One and didn’t authorize anyone to manufacture brush strips. Not sure how accurate this is, but that’s what information I ran into when I was fixing up a customer’s Concept One a couple years back.

Oh and yes if you want the brushroll inserts you can contact some collectors. Dont know any phone numbers though

Wow, you know Bill I think Thomas can meet Jeff as well if Jeff can fix his dirt devil and maybe Jeff can try out your Bissell shark rainbow, Eureka, and dirt devil with your modern Hoover like the windtunnels and plus your Electrolux canisters

That concept is in really good condition. If a Kirby bag fits, a Kirby hepa cloth bag should also work. The brush strips are extremely hard to find. I did see someone use convertible brush strips on a concept brush roll as a replacement. There are new old stock convertible brush strips on eBay. I would try putting on the brush strips from the encore to see if it fits.

Those inserts are impossible to find. I've managed to locate a good stash from a shop that was open for 40 years, having a closing sale. What you get is what you get unless you buy a new brush roller entirely that appears to be in good shape, and even that is no guarantee, unfortunately.
