Joe, that is one of the prettiest parts I've yet seen you make / alter from plan. The real door / hinges was another. This is so much nicer than the "out-of-scale" screws would have been. Good choice and beautifully executed.

It’s really odd but, out of all the things I’ve seen you make, that’s one of the coolest Joe. It ranks up there with the power cross feed on the model lathe. At least I think it was you that did that. Pins definitely look better.

Good day my southren friend. Good to see you this smoky day up here. Wild fires are thick in the valley. This wee drive shaft is just amazing. I can see the reason you weren't wanting to do this. Now that it is all together It is agreat lesson in small. Rounds and square featyres all working together and dead on accurate. Sure is a pretty thing in motion. On a different topic a good friend was breaking small taps so I made him your two small tap drivers for his birthday. He has always been heavy handed sort. About a week ago I stopped by and there they were, both had whole taps in them and he sends all his best to you. He hasn't broken a small tap since I gave them to him. Thanks a bunch Joe. Proof is in the puding eh. Take care my friend.

Very well done. Looks fantastic. I couldn't count how many U joints I have done in my nearly 60 year career as a big truck and mining equipment mechanic. The smaller the joint it seems to get harder. Little steering shaft and PTO shaft yokes would have the set screw 90 degrees from the yokes. If you get a tight joint, just bump the yokes where you put the 45 with a hammer and they'll loosen up nicely. Works every time. Keep up the amazing job.

Hi Joe. I did the u-joints like the plan. I think they look good, but I'm with on the screws. mostly what I didn't like is soldering square tube into the newly machined brass. I changed the screws on all the kits I have done by PM. I did think of pressing pins into the holes. this mill is one of the toughest kits I have ever built. everything is done except for the disengagement arm. the crap they give you for the belting leaves something to be desired. Now armed with a Sherline micro lathe, 3 tools and a basic instruction book, how do I select the correct cutting tools, modify them like you do and expand the somewhat limited things I can do with a right, left and a modest boring bar?
