In this mini series, we take a deep dive into the House of Gucci. We will take a look at the Tom Ford Era which was a renaissance of the dying brand. This troubled time left Gucci begging for fashion editors to attend Tom’s debut show. He was a sensational hit. From controversial campaigns with Carine Roitfield and Mario Testino to help increase sales by 90%. He went on to get the attention of Hollywood’s A-listers like Nicole Kidman, J .Lo, Madonna, Charlize Theron, Lil Kim, Hallie Berry, Beyonce, Victoria Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jared Leto and many others. He finally made it into the Gucci Museum when Alessandro Michele took the initiative to place Tom’s designs there.
After Ford came the young Frida Giannini who softened the image of Gucci. She revived the flora print and the 1947 bamboo bag! She also made Gucci environmentally conscious and a supporter of charity. She also had a special trim for Fiat. She dressed Hollywood and music stars as before. Frida had the pleasure of working on Gucci cosmetics with Charlotte Casiraghi, granddaughter of Grace Kelly. She was a positive spirit for the brand.
