Okay I don’t know if it’s crossed your mind .... yet .... but you really really need to consider getting a sponsor ( or 5 ) and doing a Vendee Globe or other major Ocean Race. Your skills are tight and your attitude perfect for it. I’m behind you 1000%

Great video, once again! You're getting better all the time, which is really nice to see. Only a few moments when there were other minis in front of you ;). Interesting to see that when you took down the spi your right foot has no toe rail support. Your boat has toe rails almost everywhere but not in that spot.

Hugo, great video. Just an observation from an “armchair quarterback”. On you speed trials it seemed the boat on your weather hip always sailed a bit flatter. I’m sure you noticed it. I don’t know how things ended up, but that’s what I noticed. Paul

I’m from the US and have been to La Rochelle (I think 7:18 that is the bridge to Ile de Re?) I am not familiar with your sailboat class but I assume you achieve full plane to reach those speeds. Love your vids Hugo...

What would you think of a double handed, mixed, off-shore overnight, olympic event using the mini? Would that be a class for such an event. Part of Olympic requirements is that the boats, equiped must be "affordable" for emerging nations, and the class must hold worlds championships annually. So, in 4 to 8 years....?
@TheSailingFrenchman3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the format is good, but also the Mini Class doesn't exist in many countries, basically out of Europe, and that might be a big argument against it from the Olympic comitee
@hurdurdur7rl6963 жыл бұрын
So the boat gets up to this speed because it's purely planing at that point right?

Exactly, and also a lot's of canvas out :)

Great vid again. Is your autopilot a specific type/special software to cope with the speeds the mini does?? Can't wait to see the new "paint job" on the water😉
@TheSailingFrenchman3 жыл бұрын
Well yeah it's not your regular cruising autopilot, it's the same principle, just a system that allows a higher calculation rate and feedback onto the rudders

How do you sleep when doing solo events? Do you just stop for the night? Or just sleep when the wind slows? I'm curious
@vincentmertens16983 жыл бұрын
They can take short naps while the boat is being steered by the autopilot. They also have an AIS alarm, this alarm goes off when they come too close to another vessel.
