From a hobbyist who works a corporate job: never act in affect, dont take things to heart and don't stress under fire. You don't *need* to do anything regarding GW now, just keep making your content and this incident won't have mattered in the long run. Your bad feeling will pass. Your mistake was trivial. People tend to forget quickly.

I feel like it is always weird when you have to interact with companies whom you look up to or are interested in. Collaborating with a business should always be a transaction, it is give and take. However, when you have a company like GW, Blizzard or any other game studio, the transaction is always scewed, they expect you to give more for the chance of working with them even though they are the same as any other company, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise. Unless you have a personal relationship with a company then everything should be a transaction, otherwise you will be exploited and stepped on. There is a reason that the pay for working on games is soooo much lower than normal programming or adjacent jobs. It is because the people love the product, and they know it. Sometimes you've got to take the business suit on and think clearly. You shouldn't have to pay out of your own pocket for this event, the beneficiary here is clearly GW. This would never happen in regular business events. GW would have to pay for everything; labor, travel, lodging and exposure. That is how it is, you are basically a contractor with a following, you should be able to demand far higher pay than even a normal worker, that you weren't paid for this even is aggregious. Anyways, very well handled dude

Goes to show that you shouldn’t meet your heroes. Especially if those heroes make you sign a contract when you meet them that lets them stab you in the back and repossess the fancy model you made for them if you make an honest and relatively minor mistake. You should probably get new heroes at that point…

EXACTLY my thoughts. How the fuck a mistake showing some duplicate of the same marines we've been seeing the last 20 years can get this much punishment? It just shows how bad this guays handle some of the legal stuff, apart from how bad they handle some of their gaming stuff. I get that Scott might have seen this from other perspective, and even come to understand some of their actions, but from the outside, this feels insane. It is sad to see hoy overboard they went with this. Feels absurd to be honest. Anyways, much love Scott, sorry you had to go through that.

Scott continues to be an exemplar of this hobby and of content creators. He is one of the most genuine people I have ever met and his love for this hobby has undoubtedly opened the door for thousands of hobbyists and unquestionably made GW considerale revenue. My sincere hope is that grace and humanity win out in the long run and GW lives up to the values it looks for in all of its own associates and the people it hires. Forgiveness should be given for such a minor infraction and we should all move on. One thing I am sure of is that Scott will continue to deliver amazing content that both inspires, entertains and delights those who watch. #JusticeforScott - get it trending.

@@redscope897 I apprecaite your POV, and I certainly don't want to engage in an argument. I understand the business world just fine, I am not a professional KZbinr, I have a job and ironically that job very regularly deals with NDAs with the largest corporations in the world and working with legal departments for more than 20 years. Scott quite genuinely took responsibility for his actions and I admire his forthrightness. I am not questioning the actions on that day, but I am asking that in the long run, items are moved past. An NDA is a contract, it was violated, it has enforcement and penalty clauses - those can choose to be invoked or not. These are not words from god, they are contractual languages. Contract violations occur quite regularly in this world and the response to them can be varied based on the parties participating and their short and long term goals. Laws, rules, contracts and such are necessary for society, they are the order that keeps us all bound together as a people and things running relatively smoothly. We must also be aware that sometimes these things will be violated. Sometimes intentionally, sometimes by accident. Justice, and I chose that word carefully, must be metered with mercy. Just as in society we vary penalties for real crimes based on the circumstances, I am asking for only the same realization of treatment here. They have no obligation to do so and I am not claiming they do. I am merely asking, as we all have an ability to do, for mercy. Whether that should be given is at the behest of the company where fairness in action is one of their core 7 values and someting they place above all else in how they hire and conduct their business. I applaud GW for being so strong with it's values and putting them at the center of so much of what they do. I ask only them to extend that here in the long run. I do hope this clarifies the last sentence of my comment.

@@redscope897 I’m a lawyer and I disagree with you. It’s usually, with few exceptions, a better business decision to maintain the relationship. GW had full discretion not to come down so hard on Scott. Also, the context of the breach matters: Scott made an honest mistake. I think the disconnect is coming from the level of the response for a mistake made by an unpaid collaborator. And people keep throwing "leaks r srs bsns" around here but as someone who works in a department where we handle these product launches all the time, nobody in our department would consider terminating someone for accidentally posting content 48 hours early. This type of happening unfortunately scares me from wanting to go to a similar event in the future. travelling halfway across the world to help a company to do promotion for them... like this was 90% for them, not you - to only make a small mistake (which honestly is very likely i would have done as well as i can't tell the difference between the different weapon load outs) and get booted from their entire program for that is too much. they could have just turned it to their advantage if they actually cared to do some interesting guerilla marketing. look at how marvel solved it when "the hulk" streamed the first 10 minutes of endgame on Facebook. the fact that you couldn't even speak your mind without them controlling your content after - Is just another kick in the groin... and honestly one of the more worrying parts.

Well, the whole not being able to speak his mind after the fact is well... Understandable because of the legality issues with him admitting to the leak. Hell even just saying what he leaked specifically can be bad as people might have archives of the pictures or waybackmachine being able to be used to go back to get the pictures before they were suppose to be revealed. It is a crummy situation for both GW and Miniac. He also says in the video that he completely understands why GW had such a reaction towards him about these leaks he did not follow the rules which is very important when you want things to stay quiet, when you are not able to follow those confidentiality rules you will be kicked out. Kinda like a museum even if you are an artist that is being showcased if you cannot follow the establishments rules you will be asked to leave and probably hurt your reputation with them.

How have they not gotten your minis back to you yet? And the shittiest thing to me is them using peoples paint jobs and not even linking to their channels or social media accounts. Scott, as someone old enough to be your mum - if I were your mum, I would be incredibly proud of you right now for how you are handling this! I wanted to reach through the screen and give you a big hug. It would have been easy to get angry, to double down, to rage online about how you've been treated with such a heavy hand. But no, you've taken it all on the chin and thought through why GW have acted in the way that they did. I agree with you - from a legal standpoint, sadly, coming from the wider craft/creative world, IP issues have to be dealt with quickly and thoroughly with no exceptions made for accidental mistakes or lapses due to ignorance of the law on the part of very small home crafters/creators. If anyone thinks GW handle things with a heavy hand, for example, then they don't want to mess with Disney's IP! I'm also someone with ADHD and co-morbid rejection sensitivity dysphoria. I know exactly how it feels to have messed up a very good thing within your professional and social community and that barrage of shame and regret and all the other negative, hurtful feelings that descend over you. The ruminating as you replay how you f**ked up and how you could have done things differently, torturing yourself. It's a hard cycle to break. Trying to overcome those feelings while others are actively working to incite a rumour campaign against you is a very tough thing to do indeed. You have come out of this extremely well, with such a mature attitude and a sense of learning from your mistake and moving forward in a positive direction. That is visible to even an occasional viewer such as me and should be applauded. I hope that GW are also able to recognise that going forward.

Although you may of made an honest mistake, the way GW has handled this situation is emblematic of the companies heavy handed approach as a whole. Their treatment of fans and content creators is part of what led me towards buying miniatures from more artisan companies who produce high quality products without resorting to typical corporate tactics, bad treatment of consumers and nickel and dimming their customers all for the sake of profit. I hope to see more folk make this decision as it benefits the hobby as a whole to have more active companies in the industry.

I think to some extent it's also the youtube algorithm at fault... GW content is popular, channels that do some GW content will see significantly more views on such than on their non gw content. I'm sorry this has been such a painful experience for you however everyone should take this as a lesson: Corporations are not your friends, they do not care about you. Even in 'fun' industries, often times especially in those industries, they do not care about you beyond what you can do for them. Never make the mistake of thinking you have a 'good' relationship with a company. You can have relationships with people, you cannot have them with companies. Corporations care about if you're useful or how much money they can get from you or your work and that's it. Never forget it and always read your contract. Oh, and don't trust what GW tells you about the law. Their opinions and those of their lawyers are designed to benefit Games Workshop, not to be neutral statements of law or even fact. If Games Workshop is still hassling you or attempting to control how you talk about this then you should get a lawyer to look over what you signed. If anyone were to ever actually threaten legal action the only correct course is to cut off all contact and talk to a lawyer representing your own interests. Just a heads up because it sounds like what you've done, and continue to do, is defer to what Games Workshop thinks on the matter and that's just not how this works. I understand if it's easier but you should know they have no obligation to be honest with you.

"You should get a lawyer to look over what you signed." This is the absolute worst advice. As a professional in the miniature business, which content creators absolutely are, he should have had a lawyer read his contract before he signed it. Contracts are meant to protect the people presenting it, and signing anything designed to benefit "the other guy" without a thorough review is foolish at best.

@@odeegrotsniffer4166 I've seen a couple of times in the chat where you are clearly pulling for the big guy here, and that's fine, but put yourself in the youtuber's shoes with some empathy for a moment and realize this is mortifying and a fundamentally big blow to a guy who's actively put a lot of bucks in Geedubs coffers. It did "happen" to him, and its embarrassing and kind of heavy handed for something that was an obvious mistake. TLDR: Consider balancing empathy with your big-fandom.

Everyone can make mistakes. You still have one of the top KZbin channels I come to for cool mini painting content. I hope GW can step back after the dust settles and see it was just an honest error and also see the value that you can bring to the hobby and to them by including you in future events.

> doesn't have time >proceeds to clean and videoshoot everything instead of mount a camera on a broom stick and paint the model with fingers to make it in time yeah i see the problem but jokes aside i can see how GW's reaction hit ya emotionally so i'm sending hugs and kisses

Warcraft references for the win. Your handling of this situation is legit well done though. Respect. I am glad to now be a patron of you.

Scott, good on you for making this video. You handled yourself very well. Must have been very hard to make. Just wanted to say I'm sorry for how much the situation must hurt. Hang in there bro. Love your work and love you, man!

Things like this, when juggling content creation under NDAs happen all the time. I got so paranoid with a couple events I participated in that I’d run each public/social media post through my rep. While sometimes it can be frustrating when they didn’t like a little thing here or there (often I wasn’t looking for critique, just a yes or no) I always had some sort of approval to fall back on. You handled this situation very well from what I can see; managing to get your feelings across while remaining professional. I think anyone would see you as a good bet and a great partner for their brand. Mistakes happen. This was a good learning experience for all of us, thanks for sharing.

For those appalled by Miniacs treatment, consider buying his merchandise. He has some pretty awesome stuff and I’ll be picking up something to support him. Good luck buddy

Mistakes happen, you were cooperative and honest about it and GW definitely handled it a bit heavy handed. But all in all this shouldn't be big drama for the community or other content creators. Love ya bud, keep on keeping on!
