I have a beastmen army on round basis, it is a mix of old (back to 80's metal models) and new minis from GW. I bought a 5 dragon ogres unit in metal a few months ago, I am waiting to see what the TOW bases are going to be for them before I start doing anything with them. Probably also going to collect non GW minis. Next I had the idea of a halfling bretonnian army for a while to face them, sourcing minis from different manufacturers. But I already have so many hobby projects and only so much time.

Yes that’s a good idea, I did think of grabbing just some of the horses. Ahh, so I answered my own question! Found out below you're basing these on 30mm x 60mm. That makes sense, it's the next larger logical base size commercially available. Which would mean if your guess is correct then all the old infantry that are on the old 25mm squares would now be on 30mm squares. My only concern is if GW does something wacko like decide to use something like 32mm square or 32mm x 64mm rectangles to force you to buy special bases from them. THAT would be very deflating.
@MiniatureRealms Жыл бұрын
It’s possible, but then again 30x60 & 30mm aren’t available commercially outside of mdf anyway, so aside from people like me who’s have based some on a guess, it makes no difference really.

Hi Stuart.. hope you and yours are well :) Just a thought for any video. I watch a lot of model making videos and a couple of them include a list on screen of the products they use. I know your videos are more to show /technique/ than products, but if a viewer wanted to emulate an effect, they would be able to if they had a list of products.
@MiniatureRealms6 ай бұрын
I do include a list in some video descriptions when I have time, but sadly not this one. I do hold up each paint to camera and say its name at the start of each use, though I appreciate it’s not a list in one single place, but the information is there for anyone wanting to follow.

I really love the paintjob but in my headcanon I would imagine bretonnian knights would always be in pristine equipment, no dirt, chipping, etc. But I still really love it. I want to build a bretionnian army as well but I cannot rationalize spending that amount of money on it so im looking at kitbashing historicals. If anyone can give me some tips on what to buy I would be very gratefull. And also if anyone where I can buy little bits and bobs like swords, maces, axes, pouches and other stuff to fluff up my models please do tell. I know there probably are 3dprintable files but do not own a 3d printer and dont plan on buying one soon, if anyone has one I would gladly pay for stuff like that thx.
@MiniatureRealms Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I have a lot of affection for the old pristine style, but I like some realism in my armies, to look like they’re in a battle or even on campaign. This force will also likely be under the command of a ‘disgraced lord’ (or at least partly) who’s now in the Border Princes. Perry Miniatures HYW and WoTR ranges will be good, and maybe some Vitrix and Fireforge, at lot will be more truescale 28mm, so smaller than GW though.

Beautiful job. That's the benefit of a 'uniformed' Bretonnian army - you don't need a full rainbow of paint colours! Did you purposefully avoid an 'inside-out' approach in doing the fabrics before the barding, maybe to get the larger colours on first?

Fantastic stuff as usual! As it happens, I've got five vintage Warhammer armies stored away, completely built and primed, about 500 minis. in all. But also all based per vintage Warhammer Fantasy 5th-8th Edition old days. I'm hugely tempted to begin putting all the old 20mm-square based models on 25mm squares and prepare for the future release of the game. However for old mounted troops and for models already on 25mm from the old days, they announced there would be entirely new square and rectangle sizes. So I'm wondering, are you using 25x50mm rectangles here for the knights, or is this the new size rectangles as per the future game? I'm never going to play WTOW competetively, so I'll probably be able to get away with leaving some models on their old bases. But I love their planned idea of making more space between models for the new rules to make ranking up easier. That will make factions' infantry like Night Goblins, Dwarves, Empire etc. much easier to rank up! All that vintage infantry being on the old 20mm squares was a nightmare for ranking.
@MiniatureRealms Жыл бұрын
Ranking up was a nightmare for so many models, a few worked well on 20s, but overall the change will solve far more problems. I’ve made an educated guess for Bretonnian Cavalry by looking at pictures of the new stuff, and I think 30x60 is going to be right, or only out by a couple of mm. Saying that I’m only basing/painting 8 models, so not much pain if I need to change it, the rest will wait until there’s more official news. No idea for models that would have been on 25s yet really, not seen enough pictures of new stuff close up on bases. Based on my guess for the cavalry it could be 30mm maybe, but it’s a huge risk changing them now. They also said “all” 20mm will go up to 25s, but only “most” 25s will change. They said they’re going to release a chart closer to time.
@marshtiger1 Жыл бұрын
@@MiniatureRealms Yeah, I agree with waiting until I have official base sizes, or if there will be options for creating a gaming tray with the official foot print rather than re-basing individual bases from 20 mm to 25 mm.

Nice tutorial! I am looking forward to the return of the Bretonnian knights but I have a sinking feeling that GW is going to price gouge the hell out of them and likely going to not have a proper amount of supply available. I just have this feeling the new miniatures when they come out will become the miniature versions of their "specialty" games and that is honestly going to tick off a lot of people my self included. I can see that as being the last straw with GW for me if that happens.
