I fell in love with that sound as a kid, if it weren't for this synth and musoc lile The Cars, Gary Numan, New Order, there probably wouldn't be some of the great retro-wave producers of today, including one of my all time favorite artists Com Truise; and seriously, if you haven't head him, check out the songs "Cyanide sisters", "Neo Division", "Future world", and "Closed". my minikorg 700 has some some cool little extra features --- that other users may not realise are there --- try it if you have one --- with the scale selector ---ie. 2,4,8,16,32 ---if you place the selctor between two scales --- it will play both at the same time, giving a kind of SUB oscillator effect --- I have no idea how or why it does this --but it sounds great! Also if you balance the sustain switch in the middle position it will act as though the envelope id fully released and play the note indefinitely --v handy. Incidentally my korg minipops 7 which has v similar switches also gives some added little extras if you position the switches just right.
@soepil8 жыл бұрын

Interesting find! I never noticed that. My god I used to abuse those switches! Slamming those octave and waveform switches back and forth while playing became a regular part of my performance style! Very WARM sound, soothing in fact... as compared to many synths with a very harsh cold digitized sound. Probably has to do with the vintage components it was built with. Unlike any other synth I've ever heard personally. Funky! I really love this synth because it has still has some of the 70's organ vibe and tonality to it. Reminds me of ELP a little bit and classic 70's & 80's Sci-Fi movies. ha.

The 700S (with the extra oscillator and other 'effects' is more flexible and you can turn off the extra stuff altogether if needed, which should make it equal to this model, the 700. I think they sound rather different however, even in that state. Both are great synths, though - I wish I had the space to keep both my 700 and my 700S (which I kept)
