❤ This did help. I have been decluttering with the intention of possibly having a garage sale, but chose to donate instead. I Chose to count my items donated 144 items. Very freeing.

What I like to do with my maybe clothes is putting them in my couch pillows which became really flat over the years. So they still serve a purpose while I think about them and I don’t have to buy new pillow inlays.

Same!! It’s how I slowly learned to identify what I really needed and allowed me to get a glimpse at how easy it would be without the excess even when I was too scared to get rid of it ❤️❤️

♥ I was pretty motivated to declutter but Atomic Habits really came in handy for developing daily cleaning habits. What you were saying about categorizing was really key for me to get organized as I was decluttering. Designating zones in every cabinet (for example, in the pantry, having a breakfast shelf, a snack shelf, baking ingredients shelf, etc.) and other storage spaces was the real gamechanger for me. Whether organizational bins are used or not, having specific homes for everything and using that shelf/drawer space as the limit (without overfilling so everything is accessible) really helped the most.

I’m trying on every single one of my lipsticks … one per day … at the end of the day it is a keeper or toss. So far I’m 2 keepers and 2 bye-byes. It is so liberating to curate your belongings … small steps work too … especially if you have anxiety.

❤ I just brought out my autumn clothes and packed away the summer clothes. It was easy to identify what I did not choose to wear in the heat of this summer, and I even found some fall items that I wasn't particularly excited to see that I could let go of.

Target used to be my downfall. I would spend $100-$200 every time I went in. Thankfully we don't have a Target in the town I live in, so I only go maybe once a month. However, I have gotten so much better! Now I know what I need when I go & I try not to look at anything else.

I literally never go to any store, for groceries or otherwise, without a specific list. I only get what is on the list, and don’t walk down the other aisles. I love your acknowledgement that your ideas work for you and may not work for others. I think this bit of humility is part of why I love your videos so much. I find 90% of everything you say helpful and reassuring and validating. Thank you so much for your helpful videos!!❤

I like the maybe bin...I do something similar...I keep putting decorations and kitchen stuff in bags in a store room to see if I or my husband miss them (or even notice in my husbands case lol)... not gone back for anything yet so once summers over its all going! Here in france we have a shop similar to target called Action...I try to never go in there as its just too easy to buy stuff! ❤

I have no problem decluttering clothes at all, I just need someone to help me with the process as i have some health issues. Thus far no one has made good on their desire to help me. But it's not hard for me. I do, however, love my things around me and I need a certain amount of decor to feel comfortable. I get anxious every time I see that empty shelf in your living room. If it's empty, why is it there? It needs something - anything! Well, that's just my little maximalist heart speaking. It's your home, not mine. It is harder for me to get rid of the things I love even though I have too many of them. Some things are easy - paper for instance. I hate all the paper that comes into this house and since my husband died a couple of months ago, my kids suggested that I stop paper recycling as it will be too much for me as a handicapped person, at least until I get some more systems in place to incorporate that. So I have to throw it away and that is bugging me not to be able to throw it into paper recycling. Oh well, hopefully it is only temporary. Major life changes require things to be different for a while and maybe forever. I had no problem getting rid of my husband's clothes so I'm not sentimental about everything. However, I was really happy that my SIL could wear the three brand new unworn pair of shoes in the closet as well as several of the shirts. I think perhaps all of us have a few problem areas. I watch videos like yours for tips but not to be a minimalist, just to keep my life in a comfortable place.

Thanks for sharing Becky, I'd really like to declutter my clothes but I'm in between renting & hoping to buy a new house at the moment and have got things all over the place. I've put a few things into the charity bag but once I get a proper space once we've moved, I think it will be not only easier to see what I have & make decisions about what I don't ❤️

@@minimalease I’m at work so I’m trying to finish the video. I’m at a point in my life where I’m starting fresh. I’m doing the death cleaning, and giving to my late husband’s family any of his items they want and will be redecorating my home. I the last 26 years I got married and moved into my husband’s home (1998), lost my husband unexpectedly (2000), lost my father after assisting my mother with his care (2006), lost my mother unexpectedly (2017), and experienced more loss during the pandemic. I learned from the book Transitions by William Bridges that to fully move into the next phase of life the old lives must die. I’m ready to let go and create a new life for myself. ❤️

i have that book , I started to read it , but got tied up with other things. I have been steadily donating items to a resale shop that has all volunteers and a place that takes used books and movies. Every time I donate items I look around my house and reflect on hiwpeaceful the rooms look with only the necessary furniture in the rooms Even the items that were behind clised doors gave me a feeling of relief. I wish I did this years ago when my 6 kifs that I homeschooled were all home. We were not over run with toys, but books, clothing and dishes were more than needed. When my daughters came to visit in July one remarked and said,You don't have a lot of stuff in your ho7se. She didn't understand what I was doing. I have since decluttered a great deal more. I feel a great weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. Keep the videos coming, they are very encouraging. Thank-you very much
