@@Marsolan ah thx for the tip. I’ll take a look online… (I’m Canadian but we may have a few locations) And going into the store is so much better to feel the quality. It also helps me not buy… because once I feel that it’s cheap -I don’t spend ! Win-win.

I have 2 sets of sheets for each bed. But I do like you and just wash, dry and put back on the bed each week. That second set is for when my cats have accidents on the bed, which has happened to me in the middle of the night. The ones I have are 100% cotton Wholistic from Costco a few years ago and I love them. They have a subtle print, no solids available. I've not seen them offered since I bought them. I'd be very tempted to buy a 3rd set just to hopefully get the same quality of material and fit. As someone below mentioned, quality of clothes and household linens has most definitely been worsening for years.

I hang dry (don't have a dryer...by choice...) and we literally only use one set of sheets. It works fine, even in winter. HOWEVER, this means our bed sits for a couple hours or all day, depending on weather, unmade. I can definitely see why this would not be everyone's cup of tea. We are most definitely NOT minimalist, just trying to be frugal. Ideally, I'd have at least 4 sets of sheets to rotate through because I like variety. Oh well.

I would hate having only one set of sheets. I love my crisp and cool pima cotton sheets in summer and my warm and cosy cotton flannel sheets in winter. Bedding is one area that I am extremely fussy about. I agree completely with the less is more approach of makeup and skincare. I have decluttered a lot and am working through what is left with the intention of dramatically streamlining what I replace it with.

Same. IMO it matters what climate you live in. I live in a 4 season climate and, out of choice, don't heat my bedroom. Flannels are a must. As are cotton blankets for spring and fall and a nice duvet for winter.

I keep one extra set for each mattress size in our house... just in case of sickness/accidents... or if it rains before my laundry dries 😝 But really, the container concept does help especially with scarcity mindset. Really good idea. Looks like I have some systems but could definitely implement more. I just didn’t realize that until your video. One system that definitely work for me is that I like to keep my clothes number under 30. Seems to be a sweet number for me to be able to manage and care for them. In addition, there’s a small number of loungewear, sleepwear, outwear items, but there’s no problem there and I do not worry about counting that. Also I’m in Southern California seasonal closing is not a thing.

Settling into minimalism has allowed me to finally figure out what I like and only buy those things as I need them. I have curly hair and like all other curly girls you spend forever trying to find the “holy grail” finally realizing that there are no miracle products, no clothing items, accessories etc that are going to finally make me complete has been a game changer. I am so basic and simple now and it’s been such a breath of fresh air.

This is exactly the motivation and help I need right now! I can't wait for the video, so that I can work on new systems 🙏🥰 ... I especially struggle with too much clothes. They all fit me, but I always have to move stuff, to get to a specific item 🙈 In general, people's expectations about me wanting to buy new things, is a struggle as well, because I'm really trying to "have enough" 😅 I practically had nothing on my wishlist for my birthday, other than money and experiences/adventures. It doesn't sit well with people 😆

I trick my brain with the question If money and space wasn't the issue, how many sheets or plates would I have? what items would i have? Would i replace or add something? And if I answer to myself with all honesty, most of the time I'm content with what I already have and i don't want to add more or replace things in the particular category. This feeling of enough is so freeing!

I have a lot of areas in my life that is minimal. Bed linen is NOT one of them… I live in a small apartment building with 1 washer & drier and 12 units. The thing is either constantly being used or is broken 🤣 so I always need to have 2 clean sets and 1 on the bed. Then I know I’m covered for a few weeks. I use them all on rotation. I get through them all in a month or just slightly over. Cannot wait for the day I have my own washer/dryer again!

I stopped using top sheets twenty years ago. Making the beds is so much simpler without them. We use a down comforter with a linen cover which I only have to wash maybe once a month. I wash the bottom sheet every other week because it gets dirty faster and yes…I only have one! My daughter’s cat just tore three holes in it so I’m going to patch them up. P.S. In the summer, I take the duvet out and use only the cover!

I accidentally ended up doing exactly what you recommend. I put almost everything I own in storage back in February to take care of my dad for a while and unfortunately, he passed away and I inherited the house. I’ve been spending months, organizing decluttering and setting the house up the way I would like repainting, etc., while my stuff stays in storage. Everything is taking so much longer than expected. Meanwhile, I’m living in the home, making it functional and really learning about myself what I value how much I like having things uncluttered and my ideal organization methods so it’s gonna be interesting when I finally do bring my stuff back. One thing I’ve learned is you can’t buy your way to organization later in life. My mom paid people to organize for her and those organizational systems have been the biggest headache. I especially hate all the stuff hanging over doors, etc.. unless someone’s gonna watch how you actually live, they can’t do a system for you. The worst is that I’ve rehomed so many organizational systems and then when I got the bathroom toiletries and meds the way I wanted them because of the shallowness of the closets and cabinets I actually ended up still spending $20 to get the right containers to simplify and make everything accessible, My biggest trick has been not fighting my own impulses if I find I’m dropping laundry or garbage someplace then that’s where the laundry basket goes and that’s where our garbage can go is no matter how many I have. Everything is flowing so well I love it so much and I’m not going to let my things mess it up. I’ll have one big closet and the garage as staging and nothing makes it into living area unless it’s the best thing and if something else has been doing that job it goes out. I figure they’ll be two more charity pick ups etc.
