The verse at the end is Romans 12:19 not Romans 2:19. :)

Love this video! I've been thinking about this lately. The more I pursue God, the more the things of earth truly seem less enticing. I'm a new subscriber, and I'm excited to see more of your videos!

I still need to see The Chosen. I have not seen it yet but have been wanting to. I love the verse you shared about how we can't serve two masters which is such a huge deal with SO many different things in our lives. We have pushed God away for living for the life that the world offers us completely. We have forgotten to submit to Him alone. Getting rid of "toxic memories" is something I'd like to hear more about from you, if you get time to in the future. Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing all you did!

SO interesting! I'm an advocate for digital minimalism and I connect that with Christianity too, but i've never actually thought about minimalism and its connection before. Thank you for posting this

I really enjoyed this video! I tend to struggle with the boundaries of posessions. For example, as the bible verse says as long as you have food and clothes be content, but by those standards we don't need to own a bed or a hair brush or a table etc. But these are practical things that obviously add value. Even a useless trinket that makes you smile could be a positive addition to your environment. Where do we draw the line is my deeper question.

I see how it can be taken literally. But it is kind of like when Jesus says, "if your eye causes you to sin, take it out." He isn't saying to actually remove your eye. But it gets the point across that when we sin, we are to remove from our lives the things causing us to sin. It creates the picture of how serious sin is to us. So when I read that we shall be content with food and clothes. I take it as we need to be content with that.....even if that is all we had. Maintaining a watchful heart so that we catch ourselves when we start to feel the pull to material things being held as a high priority. That absolutely doesn't mean that a bed doesn't add value to our life or even a vase from our mother. But if those things were to vanish, would we be content? That is how I read it. 🤍I hope this helps. It can be hard sometimes to read scripture and try to see it the way Jesus wants us to read it. 🙏

@@lightandmind77 for me it's more of a guilty feeling at any purchase because really there are so many things we don't need and that others are going without. I guess it's not so much literal as existential lol! But as always you give me lots to think through. I appreciate your viewpoint and gentle heart!
