Your apartment is so nice and bright and airy. Gosh, I wish I could get down to owning as little items as you. Glad I found your channel. Your humor and simplicity are inspirational.
@Lefie5 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Kathleen! I appreciate the compliments. 😊It took me many years to get down to this limited number of items; no need to rush. What's more important than how few items you have is how much happiness you have - once you focus on maximizing that, the extraneous stuff falls away pretty easily . Best of luck!
@kathleenolszewski79825 жыл бұрын
Lefie so sweet of you to reply. I do consider myself a minimalist, after reading and being inspired by the Minimalists books about two years ago. Minimal furniture, minimal amount of clothes, etc. I still struggle with spending however but I do follow the rule “one in, one out”. And being 63 and on a fixed income, I really need to improve that area of my life. So watching your videos has been truly helpful to me. Please keep them coming!

Consider this idea: your life is a reflection of you. If you couldn’t perceive it, you wouldn’t receive it. You have created what’s in front of you. If that includes undesirable events and people, think about why your soul has brought them to your attention. What's the lesson?

About keeping everything in one cabinet, this is something I realized since I started downsizing my apartment: In my first apartment, I thought unconsciously that "people have stuff in their cabinets, so I need to have stuff in mine." I now realize that it's not necessary, and that sometimes, keeping everything in one spot is just quicker to use and less stressful, because you are never running around your kitchen because "well plates are here, and glasses are there."

Well toiletries expire usually within a year or two and if the travel sized bottles are enough to last that long, then buying the full sized bottle might be more wasteful if they don't end up using all of it and have to throw it away.

love this video. I hate my stuff every where it stresses me out. Right now, I am trying to get all four seasons of all of my clothes in a closet space to 4.5 feet wide and top to bottom at 8 feet. Why does stuff stress me out? It's weird that I get overwhelmed by my stuff.
@Lefie5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! 😊It's totally normal to be stressed out by your stuff - you're not alone! When trying to pare down, I find it really helpful to think about the things that I LOVE rather than the things I want to get rid of. It's less stressful and more focused on making your future self as happy as can be, forever surrounded by favorites. Maybe if you start by filling your little closet with all of your DEFINITE YES items, it will become more clear about what makes you happy and what would be better off donated to someone else. Best of luck!

I am 5'6 and don't use the top shelves in cabinets because I have to use a step ladder (4 ft) and I don't need to pile up stuff anyway. We don't entertain and I have one baking sheet for almond cookies. Got rid of other bakeware, dishes, mugs, etc. donated to group homes in area. Kitchen is the hardest room to keep minimal. Just did both bathroom purges. Too many cleaning products, some donated. Will ignore the BOGO sales when shopping if I don't need them.
