Suggestion: could you pin a comment from Meg on her Pajar footwear choice? The comfort, the versatility, the pros and cons, and other possible options. Shoes are the most important part of travel packing, and can be hard to get right. This video is great info, just want to hear from the female perspective as well. Or better yet, an entire video from Meg on the exact same subject. Cold weather packing is challenging in one bag for sure!

I find a single layer unlined lightweight windbreaker over just about anything (sweater, fleece, etc.) is worth it's tiny weight in gold. To me, it 2x the warmth. It turns sweaters into parkas.

For me the main secret with layers is to have outer layer items roomy enough. Because when outer layers are not roomy enough they leave too little space for air in inner leyers. And without air, insualtion properties of these layers drop significantly. Sometimes it is better to skip midlayer and tighten all adjustable bands on your outer layer to trap the air and keep it inside.

This is exactly what I needed! I'm heading to Tallinn, Estonia next week and it's cold! This is really helpful because I've been researching and trying to be strategic about layering and finding the best options for every piece of clothing while staying under 50 lbs for my checked bag. I love the Pajar boots and have not seen this brand. I have the Ugg Adirondack II (?) packed but I may need to check out the Pajars. I love the towel idea because my nose always runs in the cold weather. Thank you!

Nice video. I love packing Merino wool clothing for both hot and cold weather. I'm currently figuring out exactly what to pack for our family of five for our next winter snow trip to Japan. Trying not to overpack. 🌺✈Heidi

I’ve had a $12 frog tog rain jacket, for going on 5 years now. It’s my go to for everyday rain use including traveling and hiking. (Maybe not serious backpacking) and it’s still in GREAT shape.

Gloves - I’ve bought 3 pairs of FRDM Vigor Lightweight Liner Gloves because I like to keep a pair handy in my most used jackets. Super comfy, fit really well under heavier weight gloves and perfectly leave your index finger and thumb free to take photos or use your phone.

I have heard from multiple people and at REI that it is not good to compress your down even if it's synthetic down, because it loses it's warming effect. What do you think?
@stevemayvisuals7 ай бұрын
I’ve read that it’s fine so long as you don’t leave it compressed in storage. So when you get home just unpack it and hang it up or loosely fold it away for the season

Nice video. I have a trip to Edinburgh on December and I’ve heard that the north face larimer sneaker-boots are a good option for cold weather, comfort and good looking. But I have some doubts about what type of shoes I should take on a cold weather trip and I would like your advice for cold weather city footwear

I'm from a mild climate in New Zealand, and didn't find Edinburgh to be that cold in December. I just wore my usual boots with slightly thicker than usual socks and was fine .
