In Minimax 1100r Wood Aircraft Build Ep 115 - Attaching Wings is a long anticipated moment. It's such a huge day when you finally get to this step and it was great to share it with my boys.
This is tedious work that has a lot of details in it and the best advice I can give is to keep walking through it until you understand fully each step along the way.

Thanks for sharing this major milestone Dennis, and to have your Parker with you too is one of the special Dad/Son moments that are awesome. When the wing attached I started making aeroplane noises in my head.

Wow! I wasn’t expecting the wing to be so big for some reason. Amazing progress. The new shop location gives you more room. I’m glad you won’t have to tear down each time now. The train is fast! That is quite the maneuver he did to drill! 😅Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💚

The work space is going to be perfect for the remainder of the build. This is a really fun part of the build.

I remember trying to get those spar pins to line up, I had to remove the wings multiple times and file on the slots before they fit just right, I can't image someone removing the wings on and off just to go fly, that would be some real dedication lol

Man I can’t either. It took us about 7 hours to get that one on

Dennis. The dihedral was a question, when building the EROS. Seems to me the 3 degrees was in the plans, however, Larry Israel (Mr. Minimax) said it should be 2.5 and not 3 degrees. Something about the landings (flare) being better at 2.5 than 3 degrees). Just a remembrance. The actual setting of the dihedral, for my EROS, was established when installing the front strut and drilling "all in place." Wasn't an easy task as I recall.
@DTMinimax
@DTMinimax 3 жыл бұрын
I had heard that before about the dihedral. That front strut on that side is next.
@mmichaeldonavon
@mmichaeldonavon 3 жыл бұрын
Dennis, I was ahead of myself with the dihedral comment, vs you working on the angle of incidence. Yes, the angle of incidence is the angle of the chord line of the wing to the centerline of the fuselage. And, yes, the dihedral is the angle of the wing from its "flat" position. It was somewhat of a chore to get that 2.5 or 3 degree angle. Was scary "drilling it all in place," as that axel was difficult to cut through, as was the chromoly front strut on the EROS. Really looks nice, Dennis. p.s. Speaking of dihedral, how about the "anhedral" of the old F-4 Phantom fighter's tail section? I read where it corrected directional stability problems caused by a shortened Vert Stab required on aircraft carriers. Interesting.

Thank you Graeme! I just picked all of this up a number of years ago and taught myself. It’s so much easier now that KZbin university is available for all of us to learn from. I watch people build all kinds of things out of wood and learn from all of them.

Dennis why did you g.ue the top front panel on ( under the instrument panel ) before you drilled the wing carry thru holes , that made it difficult to drill as you found out ! Ripley

Robert that’s a great observation. I was just following the build sequence but you are right, if there was a way to hold off on a portion of that until this step is done, it would have been a whole lot easier!
