How to adjust Magna Latch

This is how you adjust a Magna Latch. Usually necessary due to ground settling or frost heaving.

Thanks! Magna Latch says to go to their website to find out how to do this, but I couldn't find it on there, so I came to the ole stand-by KZbin and found it. Now I can adjust mine. I was going to put something on the poles to pull them, now I don't need to do that! Thanks again.

what adjustments can be made when the gate is hitting the lock

Sounds like the gate opening between posts is too narrow. If it still rubs after adjusting the latch all the way in, then it could be the opening width. Check your hinge and latch posts for plumb. If they sagged, that causes the opening to shrink and gates rub. May need to reset one or both posts too if they are very bad.

Assuming you mean the spring loaded hinge tension. Will need an Alan wrench and an adjustable wrench. Loosen small Alan set screw on side barrel of hinge while holding your adjustable wrench onto top/bottom of hinge where the large tension nut is. Tighten the tension nut then tighten the small Alan set screw. Test the swing and repeat if necessary. Maybe I'll make a video one of these days.

My key is not working/ doesn't unlock the gate anymore. I am noticing that the gate is out of alignment too, but I am not able to unlock the gate to make this adjustment. What might be the problem? Do I have to replace the entire lock mechanism?

You might. Try spraying lubricant in the key opening.

Hard to tell without seeing it myself unfortunately. It's possible the pull knob on top got disconnected internally. How old is your latch?

Older ones had a problem. They will warranty it.
