Watching these videos makes me wanting to get some old minis to make one unit with character. Older minis have so much charm!

It's the hand sculpted aspect. Modern digital sculpting certainly allows for more detail and ease of creation, but the charm and soul of the models isn't really there.

Absolutely, there was definitely a power in the minis hand sculpted in the old days. New models have all the bells and whistles but, lack substance and ring hallow. The modern Chaplin models lack any of that intensity

​@@Anubarak313For some reason though, a lot of digitally made sculpts look less detailed and more "blocky" for some reason. I haven't seen many digital sculpts that has the same level of intricacy as hand sculpted models. What I find hand sculpted models aren't as good at is consistency if proportions (some space marines look smaller or bigger than others). But I think that's forgivable.

I'm just about to paint an interrogator Chaplain I kit bashed out of the Terminator Chaplain from the Dark Angels Christmas battle box and I'm eating up every thing I can about painting black on account of the ICC and the Lion of course as well. This is truly a delight and a great reference. Thanks again.

While I love the chaplains with the skull helmets, this is probably one of my favorite models ever. I got one on EBay, new in package, for like 35 USD. A hecking steal, if you ask me. And I LOVE him. Probably my favorite mini... Until I got Epistolary 2.

Somtime minis where held back for second release batches, for example half the Imperial Guard sculpts for each faction in 2nd ed in the IG Codex got a release when the Hell Hound and Basilisk came out months after the first releases.

I stumbled upon your channel a few months ago having never played 2nd edition. Today, I purchased my first 2nd edition tactical squad, it even comes free with a few layers on decade old paint! I also picked up a very hansom metal tech marine, did you do a painting video for yours? Cant wait for them to turn up. Just working my way through your videos to get a paint list together as I'm painting them as Ultramarines. (unless someone has a modern day GW list that our humble host uses?). Love the channel!

Nice paintjob as always man it's so nice seeing imperial fistage and not smurfs ALL the time :D Never bought this guy, because to this day I suck at proper faces lol. 5:49, far left is the one I have and only reason I have that one, is because I could NEVER find the one next to the one you have on that page XD. Also got the old AND "new" metal termie chaplans, both versions were great models but the newer one's pose was so damn good.
