Skinny Puppy took Ministry and a very young Trent Reznor under their wing and heavily influenced them, steering them into the industrial sound. Ministry sounded like Depeche Mode before hooking up with the two Kevins (cEvin Key & Nivek Ogre). You can hear the transition from With Sympathy & Twitch to The Land Of Rape and Honey. Al Jourgensen, during that same period, was a big part of the Skinng Puppy album, Rabies. This song, Thieves, uses multiple samples from Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket.

Uncle AL showing how far you can go while still being cool, and always pushing you past the limit. Oh and they're concerts are scary loud.

Try some Skinny Puppy... as I mentioned to Sori after you did "Daddy" by Korn. By the way, the accent you might hear is a texan accent. Oncle Al is from Texas.

Cuban-born, raised in Chicago. The accent you may be picking up on is called "Fake English Accent."

...and yes, Skinny Puppy is a good suggestion. I would love to see Sori's reaction to watching the 'Spasmolytic' video!

He did use a fake english accent on Ministry's first album. Skinny Puppy is the true godfather of this scene. Al Jourgensen is all over the Rabies album. Worlock is a good one. I'd recommend Smothered Hope, Assimilate, Addiction, Chainsaw, Grave Wisdom & First Aid as great introductions to the great Skinny Puppy.

What song would you suggest? I'm very fond of Convulsion.

I would start an easier way, with "Smothered hope", "Glass houses" or "Worlock". Or, how about "Killing game"?@@kanalnamn

I always had a soft spot for Ministry...they are from Chicago and are always doing local shows. They were super influential when they were at their height. Can't stand their politics now but their early music is strong.

A thousand times yes!!!! Jesus built my hotrod is a hands down classic. Stigmata, just one fix and lay lady lay are some of my favorites from Uncle Al. Also had the honor of finally seeing these guys live, Jeepers that was awesome.

I saw them live twice, back to back gigs over two nights in '92. They were amazing, they had an attitude on stage which was unmatched, helped I'm certain in no small part that Al Jourgensson loathed playing live gigs, this band was not about the music so much as they were about the raw attitude. Also its amazing Al did not destroy himself with drugs and over living.

I was actually looking last night to see if you guys had gotten any ministry.. uncle al is still rocking and he still has alot to say and as a fully semi responsible parent and adult ministry still makes me want to riot and getting a black eye at one of there concerts is an acceptable risk and almost wanted ....
