You rock! Purple is my favourite colour, so a LOT of my minis end up with purple bits. This tutorial is going to be super helpful!

A weird thing I paint my Eldrad in the same way recently before I saw this video. I painted him in Iyanden colours. His not finished yet I still need to paint his Force sword but it looks awesome. Its going to look bad-ass once its done.

I know this was a long time ago, but I'd love to see how you do power armor with this method. I'd love to see a finished model.

Looks great! I have a question about edge highlighting, which I’m starting to appreciate the look of but don’t have much experience painting yet. When you highlighted the bottom edge of the tunic, how’d you decide to highlight the sides (where it curls around to the front) but not all along the back of it? Is it because the back was more shadowy? Should edge highlighting be avoid along edges with extreme contrast, or very dark areas? Thanks for reading!
@xyverneas79673 жыл бұрын
That really depends. If you wanna go full 'Eavy Metal Style like the GW Studios, you wanna stack multiple highlights on every egde, but you can make it more realistic by only highlighting the edges facing upwards or facing your imaginary light source (which most of the time is the same really). Hope that helped!

Wow Lahmaia medium really is a wonder stuff, huh? It is super over-priced, though. Just use big bottles of artist's medium.

i joined your membership and most of the videos are by a guy with the mustache. i like yours a lot more i can see his layer lines from highlighting and you blend all your highlights perfectly.

I know this is an older video, but could you do a tutorial on how to achieve the purplish, unhealthy looking skin of the Iron Hands sergeant from the GW packaging/ website?
@Motsie915 жыл бұрын
At a glance it's similar to how you'd paint Dark Eldar skin. Base coat Rakarth flesh. Use a 1:1 mix of Druchii violet + reikland fleshshade as your wash. After that go to work with the pallid wych flesh and hit the high parts of the face with white scar.

@@Motsie91 Awesome, thanks! I'll give it a shot!

I know this is a really old video and I probably won’t get an answer, but does anyone know if there was a reason Xereus Purple was used first instead of Naggaroth Night?
@BringOnTheCold7 жыл бұрын
I believe it is because she did reverse highlighting more or less. Instead of doing the darker color first and then highlight the higher points, she did the lighter color and then the dark color in the recesses.
@Umami13876 жыл бұрын
Normally light colors are layered over darker colors; however, when the recesses are really well defined, its often easier/quicker to do a recess shade instead of layering.

Why lahmein medium and not just water? What are the reasons I should spend money on it instead of free water.
@TodiloDaSloth5 жыл бұрын
Mostly because different mediums helps you thin paint but without making it runny. It's basically turns your paints into glazes which are easier to work with than pure water thinned. I use water plus Vallejo airbrush thinner to thin my paints. Or Vallejo glaze medium.

The music is really uncomfortable to listen to, as well as distracting from the actual tutorial. The calm tutorial and the heartracing music make a really stark dissonance, even if the tutorial itself is very good =(.
