I love all your videos Sam! I'm almost 40 now and have enjoyed the outdoors trapping, fishing, and hunting my whole life. I think everyone out there who enjoys the outdoors can learn something from you. Not everyone out there with your kind of knowledge is willing to share it with other people, and you do it for free and ask for nothing in return! Your as good as they get in my book and I'll shake your hand any day. Thanks for all that you do, and best wishes to you!

Thanks for the idea of putting a trap holder on a brick, never would have thought of that. I too use the bottom edge sets, but use a stick to anchor the trap down, and thats pretty hard to do on a rocky river bottom. Thanks again for the idea

Nice video. We're switching to more 'rat and mink trapping this fall due to deer season overlap. Now I have to go buy some pavers to set up my bottom edge sets....

Excellent information. Wish I had found this years ago. You explained the bottom edge set like I have never seen before. Now I know what all the hype was all about. Another tool in my tool box. Thanks.

@bigtimebowfishing pocket sets are becoming harder with the low water. I will try the 160's though. I agree with some of the other guys the brick set (for lack of better name) is a great idea. I'm trapping a couple of bridges and undercut banks. I'm making the brick sets now..Should be fun. Will keep you posted.

I noticed a lot of your sets are clearly visible right by the road. You must be lucky to be in an area where trap thieves are uncommon. Lots of good spots around me you're more likely to check your line to find your traps or catch (or both) are missing. Sad times in lots of places. But good video nonetheless!

I live in an area where my traps sets had to be hidden extremely well or they had the potential to "walk'. how do you keep your traps sets from walking. your setting right out in the open with boxes that can be seen for miles. i set about 150 traps a day and kept them moving so i didnt create a noticeable trail to them. i trapped mostly from a canoe trying not to leave tracks

gotta love the trolls livin in disney movies. fence steeples(some callem staples)work good with the boxes too. short piece of wire makes switchin traps out or summer storage easier.

@KellyDermody... You have no idea what you're talking about. Those are body grip traps. They kill quickly and usually with a neck break. Neck breaks are considered the most humane way to put an animal down.

@bigtimebowfishing i have a big problem with mink eating my trapped muskrats i check them daily sometimes twice a day and we set in the huts were allowed to in South Dakota ive set up some traps for the minks but i cant get one and the other day i was grabbing a rat outof the hut and i thought it was alive it was fight ing so a let go took of my gloves and sat down my stake so i could see in the hut and then i pulled it straight out it was frozen soild i think a mink was STILL feeding on it

Hi with the mink boxes having the trap right at the mouth how do you avoid catching non target species, even folk walking a dog sticking its nose in. I'm from the UK and it would be illegal to set the traps like this we would have to have the trap well inside the box with probably a bar across the mouth . Even when setting on private property where no one else should be we have to very careful. Edited to say great video.
