Minka is a short documentary which chronicles the restoration of a 250-year-old Japanese farmhouse by American journalist John Roderick and Japanese architect and art collector Yoshihiro Takishita. The men rescued and relocated the old house-with the help of traditional builders and artisans-and turned it into a beautiful home for over 40 years. Minka, meaning "people's house" in Japanese, is a traditional house that was once common in Japan. The film explores place, memory, friendship, and the meaning of home.

I'm excited to hear Yoshihiro Takishita speak at the 2023 Minka Summit in Aichi in April 21-23 this year - should be amazing for anyone who loves old houses in Japan!
