Awesome video, thanks for posting. Been wanting one for a while now. One quick observation on your soldering technique. Hoping you either heated up the wire or tinned it before putting it it that pool of melted solder, you may be setting yourself up for a failure there. Again thanks for posting the video.
@AusAdventure4 жыл бұрын
cheers for watching, it has definitely been worth the investment. I have never bothered to tin the wire in that situation. I think it gets enough heat by sitting in the pool. The battery side was done the same way over 10 years ago and has never let me down. Ill let you know if it does fail. Thanks for the tip though.

Another good video. I'm probably going to get myself a Minn Kota with spot lock, I'm not sure which model as yet. I'm thinking about getting something that'll suit a 4.5 m boat just in case I step up from my 395 Savage. I previously had a Watersnake combat which was good for me until It had a melt down after I added some electrics, which is a bit of a concern. I can't see how it could be related (hopefully just a coincidence). Have you had any dramas with your Minn Kota since now you've had it a while? What was the reason you didn't go with another Watersnake upgrade? Any advice on any of the above? Thanks again for another good video.
@AusAdventure2 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary. I haven’t had any problems with the Minn Kota, it’s been working well. I went with that motor as I got it for cheap when Southport trawler supplies closed down. I never had any problems with my old water snake but I don’t think they have as many features as the Minn Kota. At the end of the day I guess it comes down to how much you are willing to spend.

Hey mate just watched this video. One question how did u find the watersnake ? I don't use my boat enough to justify the cost of a minkota.
@AusAdventure2 жыл бұрын
Yeah mate the water snake is fine. I only had a foot pedal on the water snake so you can’t really compare it with the Minn Kota as it has spot lock etc. It’s definitely worth having than not having one at all.

Hey mate, how’d you rate the WaterSnake? I’m ready to buy my bow mount now but I’m in two minds about the Minn Kota Riptide or the Water Snake Geo. I think Minn Kota definitely has the name as the Geo Spot is new so not sure of any issues with them. Did the Minn Kota come with the quick release too?
@AusAdventure3 жыл бұрын
Mate I think the Minn Kota are better quality but it all depends on how much you are willing to pay. My water snake had the foot pedal which I was stoked on for years but having spot lock now is a real game changer. Not sure how good the Watersnake with a spot lock is as I have never used one. You have to by the quick release bracket seperate no matter which brand you buy. Good luck.
