A 0-0 tie is more like to happen in soccer (or football as most of the rest of the world calls it, or association football as called by England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland). Also, ties in soccer in the knockout/single elimination tournament are settle in 2 fifteen overtime sessions (played in full). If still tied after the 2 overtimes, regardless if any goals, it then goes to the penalty kick shootout. In those situations, the game is recorded as a tie/draw, and it shows in the fine print that one team defeated the other, say 4 to 3 via penalty kicks.
