I worked at goodwill for 4 months & anything of value they would google it before they priced it….. MY MGR. told me that resellers have wrecked it for the average person & her district mgr. has directed them to price accordingly. My personal opinion about designer name purses…. Most are junk” pleather” & made in China. I’ve bought purses in Italy & their real leather purses smell of a real heavenly leather! I will still shop the thrift stores but will just pass on the overpriced stuff.

@loripowell7654 - So interesting! I often wonder if the pricers at Goodwill are looking at the SOLD listings. I doubt they are. So much goes into pricing. It’s not just brand name. Ikr!!! Makes u wonder who's pricing their stuff??? Illegal immigrants??? We are a sanctuary state aren't we??? Seems we must be with the largest solmolian community in the US!!! When I go to unique thrift store i always see Latino people working there, and they always give u that blank deer caught in headlights stare when asked a question, lol.... U know they got to be seeing what's at the Dollar Store so they can better price their items. When I worked at value village they were real particular about who priced items, especially antique or real good quality designer items would be put to the side for 1 special pricing girl to come in and price those special items, and then of course they were put up in the cases by the register. They were always overpriced IMO, I think a lot of thrift stores will do that because most of them run on a four week cycle and usually on the 4th week it will go half priced. Whenever we were about to have a huge holiday sale where everything would be half priced, the manager would constantly remind the pricers to price higher because of the sale!!! Most thrift stores run much the same I've found out. I've worked VV and many years ago at Ragstock!!! 💜💜💜

I don't understand, the proceeds are supposed to go to helping underprivileged or homeless. every store has a couple million pieces of merchandise. They could price all of those pieces of clothing at 2 dollars and would have a tremendous turnover, instead of heading to the bins, and then on to the landfill. I guess it's the same old thing of greed at the top. The CEO's think there is more profit in selling one item at 10 dollars rather than selling 5 items for 2 dollars. I don’t think it’s that Goodwill and other thrift stores have become greedy. It’s simply that daily they watch resellers come in checking everything on their phones and hoping to buy cheaply to resell at a huge profit. Prices here have gone nuts and anything worth buying is MIA. Where I used to spend $20-$100 week I now spend $5/month. I found a 1-quart plastic gelato container marked $1.00 - a buck for something out of someone's recycling bin. Three dollar prices on used Dollar Tree merch. The "good" items are Target pallet merch. Any pottery and glass nice enough to buy is already damaged. What they forget by pricing resellers out of the market is they're also pricing the poor, disabled, and disadvantaged out of the market...and they CLAIM to exist to help those very groups. They also forget that traditional resellers are/were often those same disabled types trying to keep the lights on. So "oh we're making more money to do our work" ....by taking it out of the pockets of the people we're allegedly helping? No evidence of that near ME, by the way. I used to enjoy the hunt at both Twin City bins, but haven't been since Summer... NOT all , but many of the shoppers are increasingly bold and rude. I shop alone and some are in large groups, cutting you out and shoe bins are crazy with none paired together, shoppers just grab one of each and put them in thier bags. I’m not a reseller but I don’t understand this kind of thinking. I hear this comment often too. It doesn’t make sense for GW to raise the prices because of resellers. A reseller wants to flip the item for a profit, a higher GW price cuts into their profit margin. A GW price increase also prices the average consumer out too. It's because of resellers and "influencers" that prices have sky rocketed. From the KZbin channels I've viewed, someone finds a bargain on an item and sells for double the price.
