I'm glad she just took your cart by mistake! One time at Savers, a woman deliberately took my cart. Another shopper saw her take it, so I approached her, said she had my cart & took out the items she threw on top of mine! I had a Lilly Pulitizer dresses & a couple other great finds.

The Goodwill in Fridley is closed now. Savers in Columbia Heights is awesome when they have a sale! Otherwise, a but spendy for reselling.

Got to be careful at the Chaska goodwill outlet. There are some younger resellers that target other resellers there. They will steal your things or accuse you of stealing their things! BOLO for them!

Sorry to hear about your recent layoff. I experienced similar troubles over a 30+ year career in IC design as my job was often being outsourced to cheaper engineers in India. Sadly my experience finding a new job promptly usually meant settling for a less stable company that was more likely to shrink than grow. The key lesson learned was to build a network of professional friends and co-workers and always explore networking with new people. I saw you at CampFI Midwest this past Labor Day. Hopefully you met some people there from MN so you can use their hospitality on your MN thrifting trips. I recommend reading Gwen Merz's (fierymillennials) blog post from June "Road Trip 2022: The Power of Community" What ever happened with your car? Did you get a new (or new to you) one?

Next time you head back to MN, hit me up! We can go thrift together! lol. There is also another bins in St. Paul. I've been to that last Goodwill you went to. Didn't find a whole lot the last time I went.

When you figure in your gas, food and lodging against the $$$ you'll make on what you find, is it worth the drive up there? I genuinely want to know as I'm debating making the trip from Cedar Rapids. I know finding the good stuff isn't guaranteed, but finding it here is near impossible. Thanks.

I’ve done this a few times and it’s been worth it if I spend like a day and a half thrifting! I usually only get a hotel room for one night, and I also like spending a lot of time at the bins because I can get high profits on items and usually find more there! For this trip, I basically needed 2 tanks of gas and spent $100 on a hotel, $35 on food, and roughly $310 on sourcing. But on the bright side, the trip is a business expense.
