This is a great review of Mint Mobile. After being on T-Mobile for so many years with their unlimited plan, paying $122/mo, I am so glad to switch to Mint. The desire to cut costs finally forced me to look at our family's true data usage -- turns out I was using only 3gb max per month, and my spouse was only using 10gb at the highest usage over many years. This was quite a shocker living in a on-demand social media world. It was a no-brainer to make the switch to tailor the data and cost to our actual usage.

I don't know about ATT or Verizon, but T-Mobile has never charged me overage fees. They were the first carrier to throttle over charging overages. I like the idea of the MVNOs, but someone has to pay for the infrastructure that they are using, which is why the carriers reserve service priority to their own customers. If I could make the numbers work, I would switch just so I can be on the same network as Ryan... but the numbers don't work, we are spoiled by T-Mobile honestly. But, I think if your not spoiled by expensive electronics like we are and you just need basic coverage, Mint is truly the way to go. You'll be hard pressed to find a better deal and value. The 5G network really stands out when traveling. I live in northern Indiana, we travel up past west Michigan yearly. This year no thanks to a new phone and 5g network I rarely lost connection. Unreal mobile lets you choose between T-Mobile’s and AT&T’s network but their $10 plan for 2gb of data with unlimited talk and text is only available on the T-Mobile service. Although they have no unlimited plan option like mint. Just great plans for $10, $15 and $25 a month. A bonus of pre paying for a year of service versus month to month is you pay less taxes on the plan. I paid $183 after taxes for 1yr of the 3gb’s a month plan, so just $3 dollars in taxes.

Like all most smaller/prepaid carriers: You are on a larger carriers network, T-Mobile, but as the red headed stepchild. If you are in an area with a lot of tmobile customers, your speeds will be slower, at peak times it can be painfully slower as post paid tmobile users get priority. It's exactly like Metro by T-mobile. Your phone will register the signal as 4G- LTE but the data is so slow apps won't even recognize you are connected. As bad as this sounds, if you use data a lot, off peak times, after 35GB, you are downgraded even lower to the depths of data hell. It then becomes only useable off peak hours and even then in an area with a great connection. If you are a very light data user, if you pay for home internet, this may work for you. For me, I would have to get home Internet which would eat up most of the savings and even then away from home my speeds would be substantially slower, my video caped at 480p. If you don't use much data away from home it's probably a good deal for you.

Here’s something I’d like to ask about Mint Mobile. Do they offer anyway of using carriers from other countries when you leave the U.S?
@theguire2 жыл бұрын
Yaaaah, you missed a few important points. First, one of the reasons the carriers (T-Mobile, Verison and AT & T) are so expensive and like to require an annual commitment is they are footing the bill for the infrastructure build and maintenance. The cost runs into the billions in the case of 5g. In addition, when there are locations and times (usually, geographically condensed areas that have a high demand for some reason - say an earthquake or volcano explosion) carriers always give priority to their customers. In addition, some MVNO's use multiple networks. Straight Talk uses Sprint, T-Mobile, Verison, and AT & T. The network you will be connected to is usually the one with the best speeds, at a slightly higher cost than say, Mint.

I've been on Mint for a couple years now. I don't have a single complaint.

I use over 150 gigs a month, but I'm also a truck driver and use my phone as my primary internet source.

I switched to Mint 3gb/month earlier this month (Dec 2020), I wish I switched back in March 2020 when I started working from home and am literally on home WiFi all day. If I have to commute to work again, I'll upgrade to 8gb/month. I'll know by June 2021.

what??? in Germany you have to pay about 120 $(euro) per month for an unlimitet data plan (only 4g), and on top of this we are the 3rd worst country about internet speed and connection in the EU xD.

That’s really intriguing to me, Germany is known for its industrial prowess so I’m surprised internet would be one of the industry’s that’s behind

If you want to pay more, then go directly with a carrier, and stop complaining. You have to take the good with the bad when it comes to 3rd party providers! I was with Smart Talk, and now save $23 a month. Mint is a the best deal out there.

We have a limited At@t plan and it's expensive so maybe we need to look into this.

I am on US Mobile, which currently does not throttle 5G service on the black sim, which uses Verizon. I am considering switching back to Mint. Prices are comparable. US Mobile does month to month payments, and the price per gig is slightly less. But I would rather have Tmobile service, as I've noticed the handoff from 5G to LTE seems to cause me to lose service (my wife also experiences this -- she's on Pixel 5a, I am Pixel 6a). And US Mobile has a hard data cap, whereas Mint is unlimited 2G speeds.

When I click your referral code it just takes me to their black friday deals? Does it make it cheaper for me if I use your code or do you only get credit?

I'm thinking to switch to mint mobile in the upcoming year 2021 and planning to leave T-Mobile
@Raja995mh333 жыл бұрын
You could also argue the other way around. For the price of only 3GB on Mint you get 50GB iCloud, TV+, 100+ games and unlimited music via Apple Music ^^ sounds more worth it than only 3GB and free calls and sms.

The instant he says he’s not worth Reynolds’s Time, you know that cast is lost. Cuz I bet if the new owner wanted to get in good, he wouldn’t even blink at what would be very little cost.

Hows your 4G speed? I’ve seen some prepaid phones out there with horrible speeds and shotty reception. I’ve been using USMobile which just changed their plans, they have a 30GB+Unlimited for $30 and that comes with the ludicrous speed. However my brother has Verizon prepaid and gets even slightly better coverage and slightly higher speeds. The only good thing about Verizon prepaid is that it gets cheaper after some months with autopay

What area in the west coast are you having service? I live in the San Diego area and I’ve been interested but I’m mostly concerned with service and does mint mobile use t mobile towers only?

Make sure to check your phone with the IMEI number, you will get conflicting results if you just check your phone by what it is. I switched services and now my data straight up does not work when i'm not under wifi.

I got my son a mint mobile account because it was cheaper than putting him on our TMobile account. He got so many unwanted calls and texts with their number we had to put his phone on do not disturb permanently. TMobile just offered us another line for free a month ago, since he switched, hasn’t gotten a single call or text from someone he didn’t know.
