IF IT’S OUR DESTINY, The Blue Notes, Unreleased (Josie) 1957
Here is another really great unknown ballad from my music collection.
The Blue Notes’ early roots began in 1953 in Philadelphia, PA. with founder Harold Melvin and group members John Atkins, Lawrence Brown and Bernard Williams.
Through the years, they would go on to have different member changes on many recordings and on many record labels, too many to list. Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes had 12 songs charted nationally on Billboard. Their biggest “IF YOU DON’T KNOW ME BY NOW” charted in December 1972 for 17 weeks and reached #3.
Of the many recordings by The Blue Notes, there are 3 of their releases that are very popular among record collectors: “IF YOU LOVE ME” (Josie #800) 1956 which was released again in 1961 on (Port #70021) and “MY HERO” (Val-ue #213) 1960 which was released again in 1963 on (RedTop #135).
The 3rd is “THE LETTER”, one of The Blue Notes’ rarest records on the Lost label. Its value 24 years ago was $600.00. It’s uploaded on our channel!
“THE LETTER" by The Blue Notes was also mistakenly pressed on the flipside of “DON’T LEAVE ME BABY” by The Camelots (Crimson #1001) 1963. It leads everyone to believe that The Camelots recorded “THE LETTER.” Was it a mistake or was it done on purpose??
“IF IT’S OUR DESTINY” is one of my favorite unreleased songs from my music library. To be truthful, I wonder what “MORON” decided not to release this.
Enjoy this really great unknown ballad “IF IT’S OUR DESTINY” by The Blue Notes. This is Philadelphia doowop at its finest!
