Very persuasive, but there's a move-order trick: 3 e4 e6 4. f4 allows the suprising ...ed5; if 5 fe5? Qh4+ with a likely draw by perpetual check. At 1:40, you say that "it's pretty much the same", which is correct only after 4...Ng6. More precise, therefore, is 3. f4 Ng6 4 e4 e6.

Mikenas Defense is actually very sound and playable. If someone masters it. it is going to be a pain in the ass fighting against it.

@@MiodragPerunovicOfficial CM tryfon gabriel actually says that in the mikenas, doesnt matter if white gets a gigantic or small center, the coordination of the pieces should be a huge compensation. i am no master of the mikenas. if you really insist at a adoption match, call Kingscruscher or GM Tony Miles from grave lol.

@@MiodragPerunovicOfficial Stockfish recommends playing Nc6 instead of Ng5, which solves the problem of the bad knight. After 6. Nc6 Nf3, Black's plan is simple: d5. If white captures with exd5, the position is equal. If White plays e5, then Bc5 followed by Ne7 and Nf5.

And after Nc3, we play Ng5, and since White has to take with Qxd5 or Nxd5, we at least gain tempo with Nf6. If he takes witht the knight, we have c6. In this case, the position is better than 1. d4 Nc6 2. d5 Ne5 3. e4 e6 4. f4 Ng6.

What's amusing is that Stockfish actually gives exd5 after f4, leaving the knight hanging, and should white take the knight, then black has Qh4+ Kd2 and then Qf4+ Ke1 forcing a repetition. Even though I enjoy playing this opening, if the computer tells you to sacrifice a knight on move 4 to get a draw then I'm not sure it's a good opening. 😂

the 'better' move for black is 1. d4 Nc6 2. d5 Ne5 3. e4 e6 4. f4 exd5!!? because 100% of people take the knight 5. dxe5? Dh4+ DRAW (or worse usually because white players think they are winning) ! unless of corse you want that as white.
