I have this slider and I fully concur. The hardware's ok, the concept is good, the software is frustrating. Even the initial pairing and charging were frustrating. I've gotten good stacks out of it too, but I've also got good stacks from my M6II and Olympus TG6 with no slider. It's mainly for MP-E 65mm. Thanks for another great vid. P.S. I have a platform I made of MDF with hole and slots routed in it. I mount the slider to the platform in the tripod hole and have some magic arms holding lights or flashes and a base, turntable, or a manual X-Y macro rail holding the subject, also mounted to the platform. Kinda like a poor man's WeMacro base.

thanks for the review Stewart, just on the levelling alone is a major major major issue for me let alone the software issues you had no way would this piece of kit will ever adorn my camera bag etc. thanks for your honesty as always.

It is annoying but I’m sure it can be fixed.

Interesting video! I just got this slider in the mail, will be interesting to see if I have the same issues.

I’d be very interested if it does, let me know.

The WeMacro rail comes with an adapter cable that allows you to use it on a tripod out in the field with a Power Blank.

I appreciate the honest review. Odd that Miops wouldn't correct the obvious problem with leveling before sending it out to you. Hopefully the software will be improved soon.

I hope so but honestly, it was for frustrating using it than any other slider.

Many thanks. I have the Wemacro rail and wondered whether or not this would be usable for low magnification macro (x1). From what you say, it is 'watch this space' with regard to the app. Hope you will do another video if things change. Thanks again!

This is a shame. I have a couple of miops products and my experience is good. I have the miops splash kit and smart trigger. My experience with the app has been nothing short of perfect. I'm not exaggerating or defending my purchase. The app hasn't crashed once or had any weird bugs for both devices. Both devices had no issues either. So from my experience with miops has been great. There is a bit of a learning curve with the splash kit dialing in the times but that's not exclusive to this brand and device. Anyway great video great content look forward to the next one.

I’m sure they gave great product, but this one fell a little short!

Great review. Does the miops slider have the ability to activate the shutter two time for each shot? - once to lock up mirror and the second to activate the shutter and take the photo? Does the wemacro have this ability? Thanks

Thank you for the honest review.

The step resolution is 1.14 and not 1.4 micrometers. I expected that you would pay more attention to the accuracy of the movement, the stability of the step and not to the plane of your table. I had a wemacro and sold it because the cables were getting on my nerves. Moreover, to fix it all in the exterior, appalling. So I'm disappointed I didn't learn more about accuracy, clearances.....etc. That is more important. For example, the wemacro has quite a lot of play in the movement screw. Every time you change the direction of movement, you have to compensate for it. How about myops? I didn't find out.

Hi Stewart, have you tried focus stacking with your Zeapon slider?

Oh... a phone app is all you need? Well my nephew makes these cute little apps all the time. I'm sure he'll work cheap but he has to get back to university by Boxing day so I'll bring him one of your slidey things and he'll work on the app the week before Christmas. 🤯

How the heck can someone make a bit of precision kit like this that is not square and true? That's unforgivable. Surely it should have adjustable feet and a level built into the thing? Afterall, there's every chance the surface you're putting it on isn't perfectly level either. Seems to be a good idea with poor execution.

I know, I’m hoping that the app can be improved in the future.

Just checked the website. This thing is $400. Do they really think people will buy this thing? The main point of the product is that it would be level. Would you buy a kitchen table that was not level? The software is the heart of the system. If you can't control the unit is it worth nothing. Also, how stupid is a company that sends the product out for review when it is not ready for prime time? That level of incompetence will make it so I will never buy a product from this company.

3D Print feet, you need to make 3 feet/points , pointing down on table, 3 points will always be stable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At $400 you would expect zero issues…
