The Mirage opened November 22, 1989. I worked swing shift in slot management. When we came in to work at 6pm. All of the machines on the floor were in tilt mode. We either had to fill the machine or pay a jackpot for all of the machines on the floor. I will always remember that night! So many memories with stars, entertainers, and athletes! The Mirage was an Amazing place back in the day! Steve Wynn knew how to design, build, and run a property

The Mirage, The Bellagio, Excalibur, New York New York, Luxor, Treasure island, Mandalay Bay and Ceasars Palace are the most Iconic casinos and also some of the oldes on the strip. Even if they keep the building, just changing its color and adding a hug guitar in front takes the old flair. I will miss the volcano eruptions. For me it feels like another old part of Las Vegas is lost. maybe in 5-10 Years the other old casinos will also be gone. Its sad but ofc its not build to last forever.

Thanks for the updates!! I still wanna cry over the Mirage!! 😢 Stayed at the Mirage since it opened in the 80’s. I stayed at the Mirage 99% of the time because it was THE PLACE!!! Such elegance……I’m so very sad, and I know you have to have progress, but the great ones are being lost in the shuffle. It will certainly be missed.

We just left 3 nights at NYNY. We checked in around 8pm on Labor Day and got through pretty quick. Through the days they had multiple people helping people check in with their tablets

I grew up and graduated in Henderson. It's been a little over 20 years since I left Vegas and I barely recognize it anymore. It's nice to see it still growing, but it's always sad to see the old staples being scrapped. My favorite was always Ceaser's, so it's nice to at least see she is still standing. I still remember the days when she had the Omnimax Theater out front.

One correction to the video content: Cinnabon and Haagen-Dazs DID NOT replace a French bistro. They replaced Il Fornaio, an Italian bakery and cafe. Almost turned off the video when you said that. My wife and I went there for 90% of our breakfasts on our Vegas trips. We were sadly disappointed when it closed.

I just watched an 8 News Now clip talking to the implosion company working on the Tropicana and he said that they’ll also be involved with a project at The Mirage. Could it be that they’re actually going to implode it but haven’t announced it yet? Everything I’ve ever heard says they’re not. But his comment made me wonder since they’ve “changed their minds” on a few things already that got people riled up. Maybe you can do some digging for more info.

Mirage was perfect. Mgm messed it up more and more over the years. All MGM anD Hard Rock would have to do is some maintenance and updates and it would still be pristine. Hard Rock does not excite me. For some reason I don't remember the Tropicana at all but I remember the mirage. I'm from Canada and I never thought I'd get a chance to go to Las Vegas but I did and the night we went the lights went out on the stratosphere because somebody hit a power box and some Japanese tourists were stuck up there for hours. It amazes me how much Las Vegas continues to change and how much money there is to do all these renovations it makes me wonder how much money people lose in Las Vegas

Stayed at the Mirage exactly a year ago. It most definitely needed a renovation. The pool was great though. But I've had enough of the strip to last the rest of my life now. Everything is such a naked money grab, it takes the fun out of it.

Mirage made one basic mistake (when it was built): making the volcano visible from the road side. If they had made it visible only from the mirage side, all those crowds would have been at the mirage entrance. Being visible from road side, the display did nothing for Mirage business.
