Great version. But I wish she wouldn't have changed the first verse. It can still be song in the third person and not lost its meaning.

Awesome. Much like the style of the Raelyn Nelson Band.

Cover band bar music. Leave that one to John Prine or even Norah Jones version

This makes no sense, idk why all these women have to push this “we’re stronger than men” idea when it is just not true. John Prine wrote this song with heart, and she made a joke of it. Nobody’s buying a woman beating her husband up with a silk stocking. It’s absurd.

Maybe she, as a woman, didnt wanna sing about woman being beat (a serious and unfunny topic) and is AWARE that "nobodys gonna buy a woman beating a man with her stokings". It is called a joke.

They had to make it politically correct and woke JR Sad

@@heartlandguy1this came out on her 2009 album, before wokeness and political correctness. Track 14 off her revolution album. Know the era you are talking about.

No…no one is buying a woman beating up a man with a silk stocking. It’s called a joke. You know what’s not funny? Making a joke about a woman getting seriously beat, which is what the original lyrics imply.
