Watching all these artist pay homage to John Prine has me losing it. I picked up my guitar for the first time in years when I heard John passed. Somehow, I feel I owe him; his music inspired me in the first place. Amazing man. Tears are flowing thru this video. Will miss him, he was a diamond of a man.

It's great that he was so beloved by both fans and contemporaries alike. His audiences had never been so big and appreciative, and when I saw him there were people of all ages in attendance, including folk in their teenage years. He went out on top. It's just so hard to bear, as he had a lot of living to do and records to cut.

I completely fell apart watching this. I grew up listening to him and honestly it’s probably the biggest git my father ever gave to me. He told me when I wasn’t a teen yet something that’s stayed true to this day. He said “No Matter where you find yourself in life or what situation, if you need answers just listen through any album of Prines and I guarantee you’ll find what you need” I am 33 now and my father has long since passed and when Prine died it was like losing the last tangible piece of my father.the world misses John

I'll forever smile to think of the first time I heard him. It was 1975 and I'm driving my VW bus back home from a gig. I was listening to whatever came on the radio in such a rural area, when "Dear Abby" played. I remember thinking, "Who IS this guy?!" and laughing my way through that night. Couldn't wait for the next gig when others in the band were soon to be fans as well.

I ordered my Oh Boy front license plate JOHN PRINE in huge letters and Blow up your tv underneath. Can't tell you how many times people have come up to me with tears in their eyes remembering their favorite JP story. Others have said "what does that mean?" and I tell them listen to the Mr. Prine if you think Dylan was the ultimate songwriter. A national treasure and as it seems to me, he never changed from the first time I heard him at a club in Nashville through all the live appearances.

I can remember John Prine and his music being a part of the soundtrack of my life. This song and Paradise especially. It would be on the tape deck of my mom's truck. When we'd ride out to the country to grandpa's farm to go fishing. The dog in tow and waiting for good food that was prepared by my Grandma. Pap would always worn me not to get to close to the farm pond because it was 20 feet deep down to the bottom. Least that's what he'd say. There was also a huge bass and a catfish in that thing that had only been caught once by one of my uncle's. I only got a hold of that big lunker bass once when I was older and he swallowed up my lure. The big thing jumped out of the water a bit from under an old tree and took it the whole thing in one bite. My pole bent down and I couldn't snatch him up in time. We were surrounded by a little grove of trees and green fields. It felt more like home than any other place up there in the hills. Surrounded not just by scenery but blanketed by more love than you could handle. My uncle always said "Boy, you can come on out any time ya like and go feeshin out here. Lemme know ahead o' time." I usually did and he'd come by to visit us while wet our lines. John Prine's music makes me go back to those days when there wasn't much stress in the world like there is now. Just catch a few fish and be with those you love and that love you. Uncle and Pap have long since passed. But that place out in the backwoods of West Virginia was my paradise.
