MIRENA IUD EXPERIENCE | Side Effects & Mental Health Struggles

I would like you all to know this video is very personal to me. I go into some important details about my struggles with mental health and physical health during the year I had the Mirena IUD, some details you may want to skip over, but some that I think are very important to share. This video is an in-depth breakdown of the side effects I had in the 1 year I had an IUD.
Please note, this is only MY experience. I am not speaking for other people, but I do know many people with very different experiences. This video is a summary of mine - not to deter you or sway your opinion, just to share my experience in hopes of maybe connecting with other individuals who are also struggling or to shed some light on some of the risks associated with this birth control contraceptive.

Subscribed! Excited to see your updated video. I just recently started researching other people's experience with their mental health and the IUD. I got my Mirena IUD almost a year ago and my mental health has not been as severe as yours, but I've never had to deal with it like I am now. Definitely considering switching birth control and will be talking to my doctor next month at my appointment

Hi Maddy! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and share some of your story. I'm so sorry you're dealing with some mental health struggles. Just remember you're definitely not alone and advocate for yourself and your mental health at the doctor's office. They say only a smidge of people with the Mirena experience mental health changes, but I'd say 80% of the people I know have struggled while with an IUD. I will post an update very soon! :)

I am watching this rn and absolutely sobbing. I feel like I've become a monster and someone I could never recognize a year ago, I've had it for about 6 months and I'm the worst off I've ever been, my marriage is crumbling bc I can't control anything with my moods, I have chronic yeast infections, bad cramping and back pain. Everything you have said, I know I need to get it out. I know I do. This video was everything to me because I've never felt so understood in the last 5 months. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Hi Sarah, I'm so glad this video was helpful. Just know you're not alone, and there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Getting my IUD out was the BEST decision I've ever made for myself and I'm so grateful I listened to my body and did it! Wishing you the best of luck

Thank you so much for this video! I had my inserted earlier this week. I am also thinking of just trying it for a year and if I don’t like it then I will have it removed. I mostly got it because with my birth control pill of 2 years stopped working for me, it was causing me irregular periods.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Wow it’s crazy to hear someone’s else’s story and have it be identical to what you’ve experienced. I’ve had my Mirena IUD for about 5 years now. The first couple years I experienced the exact symptoms and I asked my doctor if it was normal and she too said it would pass. But now, 5 years later I still have issues with mental health, have no periods, little to no sex drive and I keep thinking it’s just me and I need to change aspects of my life to change it but now I feel my IUD could be the main issue. Are you back on the pill? Or do you need to let your body heal?

Hi Holly, thank you so much for being so honest and open and sharing some of your experience... 5 years is a very long time! I'm sorry that you've been struggling. I have been so busy with work the last couple of months but I will post an update by the end of the month as I know a few people are also curious. Just remember you aren't alone girl, this shit is real and your feelings are VALID. I will fill you in on all the details in my next video, but in the meantime- no, I'm not on any BC!
