Your videos have been a great help, so thank you. This might be quite late, but if you still haven't figured out the bisect and flip mirroring I think I can shed a little light. It might be different since I'm using Blender 3.0 now, but from what I can tell. it doesn't do anything if you are trying to mirror a symmetrical object across the middle. but if you are either mirroring something asymmetrical or mirroring across a point that is offset from the middle then it works and it is kinda like a boolean for where the mirrored portion of the object interacts with the non mirrored portion. Also, they seem to operate relying on the one above it in the list, so first you have to mirror on an Axis, then you can Bisect on that same axis, then you can Flip on the same axis, but flipping without first bisecting would do nothing, and bisecting or flipping without an axis would do nothing. Telling what exactly they will do is a little hard though. I say kinda like a boolean because it does some sort of intersection selection, but it's not just where the object overlaps itself but rather it mirrors back the portion of the object that is on the other side of the mirror boundary and replaces the active portion of the object you otherwise would be mirroring. But that only happens some of the time that you activate Bisect, sometimes it appears as nothing happened and then you have to turn on the flip as well and it should work. If it worked just from the Bisect though, then Flipping it mirrors the active portion of the object again but leaves out that bisected portion. Still a confusing tool, don't know if that explanation made sense, but hope this helps if you ever look back at these old video comments.

I've been using the Mirror tool for a while and never understood a few things, but the origin point tip seems to really help. Thanks. As far as Bisect and Flip, I definitely find use for them, but those I don't really understand. I simply "click and see" what happens until I get the desired effect. One other thing that would be good to note is the axis' direction matters, + or -. I'm sure you know what I mean, but others may not be aware.

You're very welcome! Good point, I'll be sure to point out what + and - in the future.

I see Bisect as the quick and dirty alternative to clipping. You can move vertices on the other side of the mirror plane but Blender will "cut" and merge the mesh at the mirror plane where original and mirrored edges run into each other. Activating flip is needed when the bisected mesh was originally on the wrong side (negative side?) of the mirror plane.

Hi Valetin, thank you for thinking of me. Unfortunately, as of currently I don't have anything and thanks to new Brexit laws things are a little weird with amazon at the moment too =/. It really means a lot to me that you would think of me tho.

Thank you for this information. This helps clarify the mirror function in Blender. The Mirror Modifier is a very powerful feature and has amazing capabilities, but I miss having a simple mirror tool like I used for many years in cad type programs. Something to duplicate a component or faces around any selected vertex or edge any where on the model very quickly, without manipulating origins or creating empties. In the Object drop-down menu there is an item listed for "mirror" which leads to "Interactive Mirror" and a listing of mirror axis. I wondered if this would give me what I wanted but these tools are even more complex then the Mirror Modifier and seem to involve a confusing interrelation between the Global & Local axes, the object origin, and the 3D cursor and its orientation. I have been unable to find any explanation of how they work in any tutorial nor even in the Blender documents. I'm hopeful that one of the new cad type addons ("Construction Lines" or "CAD Transform") will implement a simplified mirror function for modeling that doesn't require the power of the Mirror Modifier. Regards

Hey Mark, I feel your frustration. Ya the none modifier mirror feels VERY weird to me and very uncontrollable at time. This is why i've not covered it. Like you say, with a bit of luck some of the great Dev's of precision addons might start to add some mirroring options

Hi, thanks a lot. I'm a newbie. I have a question. When I mirror objects I can't boolean them. My bool tool doesn't work. Why is that? I have a blender 2.93 . For example, I have a cube and then I add a cone and mirror the cone. And now I want to cut out those mirrored cones from the cube. And I can't. Everything disappears after I apply the bool tool.

Hey Normunds, I can give you the best help over on the discord server but first I would say is check your normals. next I would see if applying the mirror and then booling would work.
