Catalyst was just newer. Of course the graphical quality was better (e.g. the lights), but the look and feel of ME 2008 is still amazing. The story of Catalyst was (for me) just boring and overall it was nothing really new, the fighting system was much worse and the ending... meh :(

We can only hope... Its possible but it could be many years out from now if it even returns. Mirrors Edge 1 is a masterpiece and Catalyst was good but that it, nothing great. Im still happy we got Catalyst but imagine a 3rd Mirrors Edge created with passion and combine that with todays gaming technology (Ray tracing, SSD's, 4k etc...)

Well I thought BF Bad Company, Burnout Paradise, Mercenaries 2 and Red Alert 3 were all entertaining games as well....So I wouldnt say it was shitty year for EA, I actually thought about them much more highly back then than I do now...for one thing they killed off C&C with Tiberium Twilight (and cancelled Generals 2), killed of Criterion and Burnout by forcing the team to work on NFS games (and now they are nothing more than supporting studio for other games), and we really havent seen any new IPs from them recently....

The world, the lore, the music, the atmosphere.. This game will forever remain one of those games I will always love and enjoy despite it's age. I love the first mission right after the training stage where you get the intro and the soundtrack plays along.. Gives me goose bumps every time. Sure it was short but damn it was one good game. It was standing out from other games during 2008. The art style and gameplay was different what was on the market, heck it even stands out to this day and DICE did a great job with it. And please Criterion, keep everything I and others loved about this game in the next one.

I liked this game a lot FANTASTIC gameplay and level design, but holy fucking hell it was short. So glad I grabbed this when it was free on psn because this was short it felt like a demo with literally no replay value. Could have used a combat arena with a bunch of obstacles to chain parkour attacks, or at least a create a level feature

Oscy Because almost every game is built with a lore around it. Have you ever watched the intro? Thats lore. To give you an idea of how the world is and how the life of Faith has been and still is. Mass Effect did not start a "lore epedemedic". The Elder Scrolls had lore ever since ES 1 and so many other games. Without lore, the story is confusing and we would not even know WHY Faith is a freerunner. Lore is essenstial to build up the story and to keep the player involded in the characters life and situations.

Alexander Hansen pretty sure that's just "story" I think lore refers to something more complex. Like a whole world of tradition and history inside a game world. Mirrors doesn't have that. Is just a setting and a. Very lineal story. The game even punishes you if you try to explore the surroundings and discover something more. There isn't more. Just a lineal race of jumps on a rail.

This game is so unfairly underrated. It has an amazing soundtrack and atmosphere. Unfortunately, its weakest part would be the storyline, mainly because it is short and kind of mediocre. But the graphics. Oh, the graphics! It's incredible how this game was released in 2008 and it can still compete graphically with some games that are released today, even it's console version, which is the one I play.

It's such a well made game I was expecting that to make sense: "what in the hell is in this bag?" That was exciting, turns out it's just a macguffin that never gets explained very well.

Gaming was at its absolute peak in 2008. I’m glad that I’ve been able to experience it at a young age. I was 12 when this game was released. The same year as Bioshock, Dead Space, GTA IV and many more. It was an absolute blast. The soundtrack of this game almost makes me shed a tear.

I was obsessed with this game for the entire summer in 2009. The aesthetic, the unique gameplay, the soundtrack, I just wanted to LIVE in this city. I even completed all of the speedrun achievements and I never was a speedrunner. I even bought the yellow runner's bag that came with the special edition on ebay and still have it in my closet. I will always cherish my time with this game and fondly remember running on the rooftops of this ultra-clean and hyper modern city. Also it's easily one of the best looking games of all time.

its not good graphics, but a good simplistic design. Remember this game does not have complex physics, no particle effects, has similar textures all over the world, simple movement and AI for enemies, no complex interactions with NPC's or objects and its basically just running from point A to point B, where most games have several mechanics working at the same time besides running and jumpling.

When I was 14 years old I was obsessed with this game...playing it over and over again on my Xbox 360. Eventually I started to run. I thought Mirrors Edge made running so cool, so I thought why not try it out? I started running 5ks, 10ks and eventually half marathons. (All wearing a red biking glove on my hand lol) Next month I am running my first marathon. It sounds really corny...and kinda sad but, I would have never done any of this without being inspired by Mirrors Edge :)

Mirror's Edge was the first game I played when I first got my own computer. This game looked so sick and was so ahead of it's time. The bright lights, the graphics, the whole idea of a parkour game, the music!!! I had 2 brand new pcs after this, but never did I get this feeling with a game ever again

2008 was the peak of gaming. So many improvements have been made to gaming technology over the years but creativity and passion are lacking. Mirrors Edge is a masterpiece. I enjoyed catalyst but it was not the same. With the greed of game companies today I dont think those golden days of gaming will truly return.

It's amazing how well the graphics hold up for this game, even on the 360. First played this back on February 2009 and still love this game. The music, the setting, and the gameplay makes this a masterpiece for me. I can't believe it's almost been 10 years now, but I still adore this game to death.

This game brings out so many feels. The art design and soundtrack are top notch and add so much to the game, gives it this strange almost dreamlike atmosphere. The gameplay is still the best parkour gameplay ever. Not to mention this game came out at the perfect time in my life where everything was great so I was able to just sit back and enjoy it all the way through. Easily one of my favorite games of all time and looking back on it it's one of my fondest gaming moments.

Man, this game was just so incredible. Everything about it. The gameplay, the music, the graphics, the story, the characters. Loved it all. I just replayed the PC version from start to finish at max gfx settings and 60+fps (something I couldn't do until recently) in anticipation for Catalyst. ONLY A FEW DAYS LEFT!!! :D

***** Have you even tried to do all the speedruns and timetrials, learning stuff like boost from standing (move sideways turn jump), wallrun-kicks, ..., ... tried to do what they are doing in the complete speedruns like wallrunning and jumping down to the streets etc? now all that makes the game so much larger. ;-) but i agree on having loved to play more levels. i´d even be happy about some more DLC. ;/ please give me ME2 already ... + a system that will run it.

Sean Livingston That, and Mirror's Edge was supposed to be free roam, but the current hardware wasn't able to handle all that. But, Mirror's Edge 2 is free roam, and I think I've heard talk of an area of the city that is a open multiplayer grounds that anyone can share in. But, I think I've heard talks of them simplifying controls, because of some girl who said it was "too hard for girl gamers." But, that could be me blowing smoke.

Realistic graphics in games are usually the first to look outdated as they age. Yet, this game continues to look bafflingly real 16 years later. (That's the same amount of time between Mario Bros on the NES and Luigi's Mansion!) Just shows how important art direction is.

Mirror's Edge is more than a game to me. I had a pretty rough time back then in 2008. I remember watching this trailer and almost crying. It's hard to explain that feeling. It was a mixture of admiration, beauty, freedom, strength, purity, and sadness, because my life was completely different. That trailer inspired me that day. Gave me hope. And although these difficult times are long gone, I remember this moment. Thank you Mirror's Edge.
