One of the first KZbin videos I ever saw. When I was 16, I found it cute, whimsical, and silly. He was finally flying and the thud meant he crashed, possibly not being alright. This hits different at 31. I'm crying like a child, it's a bittersweet, saccharine feeling but I love it. So much hard work, passion, and sacrifice, knowing his ultimate fate one way or another, for a few seconds of joy and the accomplishment of a lifelong dream. He can truly say he was one of the few Kiwi ever, perhaps the only one, to know what it feels like to fly. Oh Kiwi, fly high little one, you deserve it ❤️

Kate Cat I mean, from my perspective, that is what happened. He pulled all those trees so that when he fell, it would look like he’s flying on land like normal. i think maybe (and this is me using my "the curtains were blue" moments in lit class) its because the kiwi is a small, defenseless, flightless bird, not to mention i think endangered or at risk? a lot of artists suffer with mental disorders and out of that, many more die young, self inflicted or not kiwis in general could be connected to artists feeling trapped in a world telling them their trade is useless, theyre defenseless in that sense, and many times unable to escape people telling them that or maybe its just "kiwi cant fly funny" who knows
