By the way, the reason it's better for Light to know L's real name compared to just Rem killing him is because Light will use the Death Note to control L's actions so that he clears his name before L dies, whereas Rem was only willing to just kill him on the spot.

Misa thought she could throw L off her trail by sending someone else's hair in the mail. One problem: L didn't find matching hair on her head, but he did find it in her house.
@harrymillar4193Күн бұрын
No that’s not correct; of course Misa’s hair would be in her house. All of the DNA in the envelops and recordings belonged to her friend (which was a silly idea anyway as if they questioned the friend, she would immediately point out Misa). The police got the evidence from when Misa altered hit. Here is the timeline: - Misa and Friend decided to record prank tapes to send somewhere else. - When Friend wasn’t looking, Misa changed the audio. - Misa takes the tapes and tells Friend that she is going to distribute them to the intended target. - Misa actually takes the tapes out of their original envelopes and places them into the Sakura TV envelopes THAT is the where the evidence comes from; Misa didn’t know that even the slightest bit of DNA accidentally be left. The tapes and their cases might be safe from Misa’s DNA, but even though she likely used gloves when altering the evidence, she left small strands of DNA on the new envelopes, specifically the ‘masking tape used to seal them’ as L states. After suspecting Misa, they break into her house and obtain matching DNA, making it a 100% confirmation that she, at the VERY LEAST, sent the tapes to Sakura TV

@@harrymillar4193 "of course Misa's hair would be in her house." True, but Misa's hair was not the only hair in her house. She also had more hair samples from her scapegoat. And yes, her DNA helped L's investigation, but L also said he found matching hair samples - again, not on Misa's head, but in her house.
@harrymillar419323 сағат бұрын
@@computernerd1101 So you think that the super detective L, was surprised that they found Misa’s hair on her head and in her house? The hair was found on the masking tape! They analysed it, found a potential match to Misa, then checked her apartment, found 100% matches to Misa. If you want to say that they THEN went and triple-checked Misa’s head hair to make sure, fine. But the decoy hairs were only in the those original tape boxes. She thought that far ahead but remember her only plan was the tapes and that was foiled. In all the other envelops sent, there was no more decoy evidence yet Misa’s was there! Her excitement got the better of her multiple times in this little plan of hers and that’s how she was caught. - She only planned for the first 5 tapes - She fell for the police’s fake Kira message despite it not making a shred of sense (It wasn’t stopped by the police like hers were and the fake Kira offers no proof that it was actually him) - She reveals the existence of shinigami. Admittedly, she didn’t know that Light had already made the shinigami comment to L, but it is still a risky move to make in a public message - She is smart with the diary but A). should have included more locations rather than 3. B.) Posts the envelop as soon as she finds Light. What she actually should have done is not even bother mentioning that she has found him, let alone not waiting until all entries of the diary had even passed - Every envelop after the initial one lacked the decoy DNA yet still had Misa’s - it doesn’t take a genius to figure out the first was an outlier.

This is one of my favorite episodes. Misa presence shaked things up for both L and Light, both were planning to use her and L did it first. I feel so sad for her, because the "interrogation" is full torture, standing there, blinded and constrained. L goes to such extremes to get the evidence.

She's also suspected of being able to kill by just looking at you so as harsh as all of that was it was a reasonable precaution to restrain her the way they did

This episode I feel also highlights one of the most direct parallels between L and Light, namely in how L rationalizes torturing Misa in order to advance the investigation. The carceral logic that drives Kira's thinking also applies with how L justifies using torture and overstepping the law. Because he's doing it to a criminal that "deserves" it. Like the Death Note, he doesn't have to carry it out himself. Both of them have a very carceral approach to how they use other people and neither of them have to directly carry out the violence themselves. Light has the death note which allows him to comfortably and remotely kill whoever he wishes. L uses Watari and other people, but he doesn't have to carry out the torture or privacy violations themselves. By this point, it's also made worse by the fact that because Misa lost her memories, she now is just being tortured and in a violent situation for at least the third time now. Sensory deprivation, the forced standing, and the isolation are all real forms of torture (on top of the things we saw Watari had access to). L is doing here what Light does already just without the use of magic. I'm not someone who thinks L or Light are correct because both of them are driven by the exact same carceral logic. If someone can rationalize L's torture with the irony that we know that she and Light are both Kiras, then why even stop them? If you think that it's justifiable to torture people and force violence upon them under the pretense of justice, then we have no reason to stop Kira at that point.

Nothing is ever "justifiable", it's a myth.

When I say that L is as much of a psychopath as Light is, this is exactly what I mean; though in this particular instance, there are mitigators. Misa being the prime, almost guaranteed suspect of mystical magical murders that are unprecedented in human history kinda throws ethical practices out the window. Harsh incarceration would be the bare minimum since no one knows besides her and Light how the magical killings actually work. We can talk about the torture, but the straight jacket and the blindfold are the bare minimum necessary.

A massive win for L in this one! Though, when I first saw this episode, I was very alarmed at L's use of literal torture. I feel that it shows his desperation in the fight against Kira. It also shows Misa's strength and devotion to Light that she endured three days without breaking and telling the police everything. Poor girl. Luckily, she has Rem looking out for her!

That's because L and Light are very much alike, more than people think. Both with a mental illness (L is on the spectrum of autism and Light has become a psychopath with God complex), both liars and manipulators for their own purpose, both with a twisted ideal of justice, and both would do anything in their power to win their own battle of wits. There really isn't a good or bad side in this story, the only thing in wich they are different is that L isn't a murderer. But he's definitely not a good person.
@computernerd1101Күн бұрын
If Misa hadn't been arrested, she would have told L's real name to Light. Of course Light wouldn't kill L immediately, because that would be too suspicious, but knowing his real name means he can kill L at any time, preferably after enough time has passed to decrease suspicion.

You should check out the anime Code Geass for when you eventually finish Death Note, its got a lot of similar themes with a morally grey protagonist outwitting his adversaries, and has a good mix of slice of life episodes that still continue the story but let you get a pleasant break from the action (its also got great english voice cast imo)
